Body of man recovered from River Shannon

The man went into the river just behind the University of Limerick yesterday.

THE BODY OF a man who entered the River Shannon yesterday when he was on horseback has been recovered from the water.

The search resumed for the man this morning. It is understood he was on a horse when he went into the river, just behind the University of Limerick shortly after 6pm yesterday. 

He is believed to have gotten into difficulty in the water.

A large search was carried out by Limerick Search and Rescue and Killaloe Coast Guard.

The  body of the man was recovered from the water at 9.10am this morning.
