Missing Scottish man found in Australia after worldwide appeal

Australian police had issued a formal appeal looking for Jonathan, who had been sleeping rough.

A SCOTTISH MAN missing in Australia has been found safe and well after a worldwide appeal.

Jonathan Ansell (26) had last made contact with his family in Glasgow a fortnight ago, when he told his mother that he did not have a place to stay, or any money, and had lost his passport.

Earlier this week, police in Melbourne appealed to the public for help in tracing Ansell’s whereabouts.

Today, they said that Ansell has been located “safe and well”.

He made contact with his family following Monday’s public appeal and they attended the Melbourne East police station around 8pm this evening.

Ansell had been described as a quietly-spoken man and his family had been worried he may not approach people for assistance if he was in trouble. He had been sleeping rough in Melbourne and his visa had run out at the end of April.

That’s good news. The poor chap.

There’s no place like home and family. Grass isn’t always greener.

God very sad. He must have been in turmoil emotionally. Hope it all works out for him now and he can get home soon.

Well I hope to god the people that have posted nasty sarcastic comments on here never have to go through what his family went through the last couple of weeks. The chap was missing in the eyes of his parents, a huge turmoil to any family, worse given the fact he was abroad. It’s great he’s been found now. I suppose you’d still be giving out about his friends or someone else if he’d been found dead??? Jesus Christ.

If he’d lost his passport why didn’t he just go to the British embassy to get a replacement one?

Thank god he was found safe. Poor guy being homeless in own country bad enough, being in someone else’s country with no one must have been horrible experience. Anyone who ever finds themselves in such a situation go to police and they will contact your family.
    Thank god happy out come,

FFS Noel, I think it’s pretty obvious that there is a bit more to the story than a lost passport. The poor guy has obviously been experiencing some deeper problems, but we don’t really need to know the details of what they are.

Great news he’s been found safe, hopefully he can get things back together now with the aid of family and friends.

He probably didn’t have the money to get a replacement one, if he had the money he wouldn’t have ended up missing

Definitely worth a worldwide appeal. This was the most important thing to happen globally in months. A grown man living abroad fails to contact his parents for a few days.

Total waste of time looking for these people. They have no consideration for anyone but themselves. Greedy attention seekers. They should be billed for the searches, man hours tied up looking for them.

Surely he has friends out there who could have helped ! Why didn’t he go to the police station ! Why not ring family and reverse charges … Lots of questions but thankfully he alive and well… That’s the main thing
