More jobs today as online advertising company announces 100 jobs in Dublin

Adroll said it plans to more than double the staff numbers at its offices in Dublin.

IN THE SECOND jobs announcement for the capital today, a online advertising company has announced plans to hire 100 people at its Dublin office.

Adroll, which keeps track of people who visit an online store and displays targeted ads to them,  said it plans to more than double the staff numbers at its offices in Dublin.

The move will bring AdRoll’s Dublin headcount to 220.

The jobs are in the areas of sales, account management, business development, finance and engineering.

The company set up its headquarters for EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) in Dublin just last October. It said that its growth has far exceeded expectations since then.

CEO Aaron Bell said Adroll was “excited about the target we have found in Ireland and the response we’ve had since entering the European market”.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny, who attended the announcement, said it was “a vote of confidence in Ireland”.

The company has more than 2,000 customers in more than 15 countries across Europe.

AdRoll’s expansion was supported by the Department of Jobs through IDA Ireland.

Tomas, it is a pity that happens but tech companies tend to like to set up where their partners and suppliers are.

I spent 4 years working between Athlone, Dublin, Killarney, Gorey and Galway, among other places. 3 – 4 hours some days total driving time. Bite the bullet and deal with it :-)

People move half way around the world for the job they want. What’s your problem with moving to Dublin ?

Tomas that is funny since yesterday I was complaining are there not more jobs in Dublin? Most of them are IT and finance at the moment. It does not cover all the fields. There are jobs in the rest of the country in Ireland as depends on what you are going for.

If you want to live in a bog then become a farmer or turf cutter or something. If you want to work in IT then move to Dublin or Cork. It might sound harsh but that’s life. If it’s a job you want then it’s up to YOU to do what is needed to get it.

I wonder do people in the middle of nowhere in the USA like Iowa or something complain that so many good tech jobs end up in Silicon Valley? Hardly…

I commute daily from enniscorthy to Dublin, I work, coincidentally, in the same building as AdRoll, they’ve just moved in. It’s a 4/5 daily commute but you get used to it and it’s not so bad. It’s actually easier to commute to Dublin than Waterford or Kilkenny, which shows how bad out road network / public transport system really is.

Not on a bus that stops a lot. Plus the bus schedule doesn’t always tally with shifts, so sometimes there can be wait times in Dublin of over an hour to get home. And the bus home is always late or delayed at peak times.

So, does it take you an hour to get home? That is ok but longer than that is tough

Eva, surprisingly it wasn’t tough – was normal for an apprentice electrician – you just “get it done” and don’t complain. Worked all over the country and knew no different. I’m a software engineer now though but I’d still travel if I had to.

Depends on the shift, minimum 2 hours journey one way if I finish at 5/6pm. Sometimes I finish at 6.30 but bus is not til 8pm, so home at 10. It’s a 14 hour day, everyday.

Would you not just move up to Dublin? I can’t fathom spending 4 hours on a bus every day to go sit in an office for another 8/9.

Have a 2 hour commute each way each day for an IT job. Great to get more jobs but it is a shame that they can’t establish more of them outside of Dublin. With the quality of BB and the availability of MS Lync or Skype then having them all “in house” is short sighted.
    But jobs are jobs.
Barry there are plenty of software houses outside of Cork and Dublin.

There is indeed something amiss from that slur. Possibly the second line is commented out. Still, incomprehensible but yet there is a piece of something in there that intrigues us readers.
