Want to help a young boy whose bike was stolen?

Barnardos has launched an online fundraising campaign to buy a bike for a young boy after his was stolen yesterday. His family cannot afford a new one.

BARNARDOS HAS LAUNCHED a crowdfunding campaign for a young boy whose bike was stolen yesterday.

The charity said the boy was “absolutely devastated as he is crazy about the bike” and “uses it for everything – playing, going to preschool, going to the shops”.

His family cannot afford to buy a new one so the charity has stepped in to help.

“He’s a great kid and really deserves this,” the statement said.

Update: The campaign is now closed as €180 was pledged – 240% of the target.

Fair play, €180 means he’ll be able to get a proper bike rather than a bicycle-shaped pieces of pig-iron from the children’s section of Halfords.

bike theft in Dublin is rampant. always had been and always will be. the Garda and general public do nothing about it. saw a €500 yesterday on St Stephen’s green with a lock that cost no more than a tenner. must be a very trusting/naive person

The Gardai and the general public don’t care about bike theft according to you Luke. So who does that leave to care?

In Tallaght if someone robs your bike you just go and rob someone else’s, it’s a vicious circle.

Should be random bikes left about with GPS and signs asking is This a bait bike might help cut down if there’s an element of paranoia about stealing it
Believe it is used in the states
