THE NEW PUBLIC bikes for Galway, Cork and Limerick were officially unveiled today by Junior Minister Alan Kelly.
Here he is on one of them:
The bikes are strikingly different to the popular Dublin bikes in the capital, which are light blue and grey with a Coke Zero logo superimposed over the back wheel.
The bikes for Cork, Galway and Limerick are red and black – the colours associated with Coke Zero – and also have a logo over the back wheel for added effect.
The Department of Transport has described the style as “distinctive”, saying they will be a “striking presence” on the city streets when the scheme launches in the autumn.
The scheme itself looks set to be as popular as the Dublin bikes scheme, with a total of 740 bikes across the three cities. If successful, the bikes may be rolled out to other cities, such as Waterford, and other places across Ireland.
Which is obviously great. But today we want to know what you make about the look of the bikes themselves. Yay or nay?
