Lots of people are thinking about getting home extensions this year

In Dublin, the average cost of extending your home is 15% higher than in rural areas.

DEMAND FOR HOME extensions is up again, according to a building projects website which shows a 68% increase in people considering adding onto their houses.

The Home Improvement Index from Onlinetradesmen.ie also found a notable difference in prices for extending the home, depending on whether it is in Dublin or a rural area.

The national average cost for an extension stands at €981 per square metre, with the average for a rural area set at €908 per square metre. However in Dublin, the average costs is €1,069 per square metre – 15% more expensive than rural equivalents.

Nationally, the cost of extensions has increased by 3% in the first half of this year. The average spend per home extension was €25,495.

Though demand is up and costs are 27% higher than they were in 2009, there has still been a 39% drop since their peak in 2007.

Just go straight to the hookers, I like your thinking. But blackjack will be handy in my free time when I’m not with the hookers.

You only heard that, not from experience? Put it on your bucket list – they say there is nothing like riding the waves while your sailcloth bulges and the topmast groans under the strain – better than sex apparently.

Lots of house renovations happening all over Dublin. And scaffolding going up on many buildings in central Dublin. Houses half built in Clongriffin finally getting completed. Good to see this sector moving again

    How can this be true?

I thought we were being bled dry, the crows were picking out our eyes and we are all doomed.

Can Sinn Fein please re-affirm how badly Ireland is doing and that disaster is around the corner, I’m starting to get worried economic growth is underway and so might not need to vote Sinn Fein in 2016 after all.

I’d say that the age profile of people at this site would be lower on average than people getting extensions.

You have to be lying to your self pretty convincingly or in a bubble to not notice the big jump in building work in Dublin this year.
