THE PRICES AT the pumps have fallen for the first time since October 2010, according to the latest AA fuel price survey.
The price of petrol fell by 2 cent to an average of 151.3 cent a litre while the price of diesel fell even more, down 3.2 cent to a nationwide average of 142.8 cent a litre.
The current average price to run a car on petrol for a month is now €227.55. That calculation is based on 12,000 miles per year at a fuel economy rate of 30 miles per gallon.
AA Director of Policy Conor Faughnan said:
The small drop is helpful but we are still dealing with record high prices overall. We still have high oil prices combined with inflated Irish taxes. With both oil prices and the exchange rate between the Euro and the Dollar remaining volatile we are not out of the woods yet.
The AA is also warning motorists about the dangers of using “dodgy diesel” which can cause serious damage to a vehicle. Last month a major fuel laundering plant was uncovered by customs officials in Monaghan.

The basic issue here is Putin and his mates are establishing structures to protect their continued robbery of Russia. Unfortunately Western politicians, bankers and others enabled Russian oligarch’s accumulate their wealth for over 20 years and therefore they share responsibility for the many atrocities recently perpetrated by Russia. Turning a blind eye is costing the world dearly.

There can be no long win here for Russia and though the emperor himself surely now is aware he has no clothes, he is keen to bludgeon his way to consensus on his most magnificent garment amidst the bodies of families and children.
