A WITNESS TO the murder of Michaela McAreavy has pleaded for the forgiveness of her family as he prepares to testify at the trial of the two men charged with the murder of the 27-year-old Irish woman in January.
The key prosecution witness, hotel worker Ray Theekoy has told the Irish Mail on Sunday of his remorse at not having stopped her killers as he heard her cries for help. McAreavey was strangled to death after confronting intruders in her hotel room whilst on honeymoon with new husband John McAreavey last January.
The first hearing into Micheala’s death will take place in Mauritius this week with a full trial due later this year. Theekoy told the Mail on Sunday: “Tell John McAreavey I am sorry, tell her father I am sorry,” adding: “I am sorry. The truth will come out in court.”
