THE IRISH MAY not be used to wearing them every day, but flip-flops are the golden ticket to comfort when it comes to this sunny weather – well that’s if the plug doesn’t decide to break mid step.
It’s an age old problem known as the blow out. Our friends and family living in Australia are now more familiar with the blow out – and when that trusty flip-flop (or thongs as the Aussies call them) decide to go, there is little you can do to fix it.

But what is this? Did someone just come up with an ingenious way to keep that flip from flopping off our feet?
Oh, yes they did.
Introducing Willi Footwear’s interchangeable bases and straps that also solve the issue of blow outs (when the y-shaped strap annoyingly breaks through the sole).
Their new patented boomerang plugs won’t pull through, unless you want them to and they come in a range of different colours.
Based in Australia’s Gold Coast, Willi Footwear made an impressive $AUD10,000 in just one hour after they put a short video on crowdfunding website Indiegogo showing how they work.
Just one day later the company hit 45% of their $AUD30,000 goal.
Well isn’t that just flipping great.

Reminds me of the time in France. It was sunny one minute and peeing down the next. My husband ran out of mc Donalds to get the car to bring it closer. He made it 2 feet outside the door and had a blowout. Slid across the footpath, landed on his backside and sat there, looking around as to say what the hell happened.
Myself and my daughter were busting our sides laughing at him from the safety of mc Donalds. The rain was thundering down and he just sat there. It took him a minute to realise what the hell had happened.
He never wore flip flops again.

Picture this.. Running at 3/4 pace to catch the bus and bam!! The flip flop blow out occurs.. Luckily I found a hair clip and a lighter and managed a mac gyver magic to repair them to last a few more days.. Still missed the bus though!
