THERE AREN’T VERY many electric cars in Ireland just yet — but if you happen to be amongst the tiny proportion of people who drive one, at least you’ll be able to find somewhere to plug it in.
There are now more than 1,200 public charge points around the island of Ireland, the ESB confirmed today, as it announced it had completed its programme of installation for “vehicle fast chargers”.
It means there’s now a place to plug in your car ‘every 60 kilometres along Ireland’s main roads’ according to the energy provider.
The new “fast chargers” — which allow a driver a charge of up to 80 per cent in around 25 minutes – are located at:
There’s also fast chargers on the M1 Dublin to Belfast road, and at a number of commercial sites – including Applegreen, Topaz, Tesco, Supervalu and Londis outlets.
In addition, there are 10 AC chargers installed at Irish Rail sites.

The government has set ambitious targets for the introduction of e-cars in the coming years — with 10 per cent of all vehicles to be electric-run by 2020.
So far, however, it appears there are more charge-points than vehicles. There were 259 electric vehicles registered in the country last year.

Do they not serve food in the hospital or in portlaoise prison, its hardly that far of a journey. A packed lunch maybe. Didn’t imply to starve him.

The Prison Service randomly picks the hospital prisoners are taken to; it reduces the chance of prisoners arranging the drop-off of contraband for them.
Why did anyone coming from a hospital in Dublin City need to stop at Inchicore for food?

He would have been brought to Hospital by the Midlands Branch of the Prison Service Escort Corp. As for being fed. All prisoners no matter what anyone thinks of them have to be given a meal. That is the law. And as for the distance some think that because it was only a travel time of 1 hour that was the totality of the escort,, we don’t know when the prisoner left the prison to attend the hospital or how long was he in the hospital.
Now I am not fully aware of all the circumstances surrounding this escape and as there is an on going investigation I am not making a more detailed comment on it.
But as regarding slipping cuffs. Some people are what some would call “Double Jointed” and can squeeze their hands out of cuffs that most others would find very difficult if not impossible to get out of. I have seen this demonstrated by prisoners before. There are ways to make this much more difficult but Officers are obliged by procedure to handcuff prisoners with their hands in the front so if they fall they can break their fall with their hands/arms.

Hope I didn’t cause offence Mick. I doubt the officers escorting him did anything outside the regulations and he just weaselled out of the cuffs. Hopefully he is caught soon I read that he is a dangerous criminal and is from ballyfermot which is 10 minutes from me. I have respect for the job you guys do I would say you need some patience.

But there are too many commentators on here making assumptions without having any of the facts. That is why there is an ongoing investigation.
As for the Prisoner. I know him . And yes he is dangerous and members of the public should not attempt to try and be heroes and attempt to apprehend him or foolish enough to hide him. If anyone has any info as to his current whereabouts they should inform the Gardai and let them deal with him.

The van stopped to feed him ? , how long had he gone without food that they needed to stop , were they driving from uk cause if it was from Dublin to Midlands prison or cork why would they have to stop , why would they leave the door open ?
