Put the barbecue away... It's going to rain heavily tomorrow. ALL DAY

Met Éireann has issued a ‘status orange’ rainfall warning for Leinster, Tipperary and Waterford.

PLANNING YOUR BANK Holiday weekend?

Well, you might want to take note of the latest rainfall update from Met Éireann (and make sure that, where-ever you’re planning on galavanting off to — you pack a nice warm jumper and a raincoat).

The weather service has just issued a ‘status orange’ rainfall warning for Leinster, Tipperary and Waterford.

[Met.ie]

Apparently, we can expect “heavy and persistent” rain, with amounts between “40 to 70mm” likely over 24 hours.

The warning comes into effect at 3am, and lasts until 6am on Sunday morning.

If you live outside of the affected areas, you’re not going to escape the bad weather completely, either — there’ll be “more patchy” rain elsewhere in the country.

Sunday, at this stage, is looking quite a bit better, however: “mainly dry with sunny spells” and “perhaps a few isolated showers” — but high temperatures of just 15 degrees or so in some areas.

By Monday, conditions will be better again though, and the temperatures will be back up to the early 20s…

At which point, we’ll write a story telling you to put suncream on.

Honestly, how would you cope without us?

They forecasted heavy rain for today aswell. Dry as a bone where I am. Met eireann shouldn’t call it a weather forecast, it should be called “a wild stab at what could potentially happen”

With all this reporting of tomorrows deluge in Leinster – anyone thinking a few showers and a bit of misty rain?

Ya needn’t worry.. The Government will cop on that we’re harvesting the rainwater so in years to come when it’s announced that say “10 mils of rainwater fell” we’ll all be sent a bill in the post…

There is a levy in some places for harvesting rainwater, can’t remember exactly where. When they start to run out of things to tax, and I reckon they’re pretty close.. rainwater harvesting will be levied.

Now if someone could invent a cheap and reliable method of making rainwater potable, I reckon there’s could be a lot of money to be made. As it stands rainwater can and usually contains some rather nasty bacteria, mostly originating from Bird droppings.

Not many people know this, but Irish weather forecasting has been sub contracted to Irish Psychics Live for years….a dodgy deal done by a former minister to “save money…..but at premium phone rates.” So the Irish weather forecast is as accurate as “reading” the leaves at the bottom of your tea cup…..everyone in Government Buildings knows this but is too embarrassed to admit this….but they all listen to the BBC fishing weather report themselves.

I was talking to a guy here today in Calgary, Canada. He said the the last two summers have been the wettest he has ever seen, I looked at him as if he had 2 heads, I think it rained for an hour at night last week, and not sure when before that!

Ignored weather forecast, as you do.
Lovely evening swimming in dunmore east, alfresco dinner etc – felt smug like I had cheated met eireann.

Now I can’t sleep due to heavy rain pounding down on the tent!

Still, gives me time to plan how to pack up 4 kids, the kitchen sink and a wet tent tomorrow. .. .
