West warns Russia against further faux aid missions into Ukraine

Ukraine also reported that several of its positions were still coming under mortar fire from Russian territory.

ARTILLERY HAS POUNDED rebel bastion of Donetsk in southeastern Ukraine today as the West warned Russia that any attempt to send “humanitarian” troops into the conflict-torn region would be “unacceptable”.

Ukraine’s military said in a statement that it was “tightening its grip on Donetsk” although it also reported that several of its positions were still coming under mortar fire from Russian territory.

Heavy fire also continued on Lugansk.

Ukrainian forces have been trying to wrest back control of the main rebel-held cities in the east and cut them off from Russia.

The head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, called Saturday for a ceasefire on humanitarian grounds after admitting the city was surrounded.

But he also pledged that insurgents would fight “for every street, for every house, for every metre of our land” if the Ukrainian army attempted to push into the city.

Ukraine is ready to accept this offer, President Petro Poroshenko said, but only if it is an unarmed international team entering the country through Kiev-controlled borders.

Protests have continued in Kiev as authorities attempted to remove the Euromaiden protest camp.

In a round of telephone calls late Saturday, US President Barack Obama, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and British Prime Minister David Cameron agreed that any unilateral move by Russia into Ukrainian territory would be seen as “illegal”.

Russia on Saturday denied an allegation by Kiev that it had tried to send in a convoy disguised as an aid mission.

Shelling meanwhile continued through the night in Donetsk, a city of one million that rebels now say has been surrounded by Ukrainian forces.

There were no reports of casualties however.

Western leaders reacted strongly after Ukraine said it had scuppered a Russian “humanitarian convoy with ‘peacekeepers’” moving towards the border, accompanied by troops and military hardware.

“Any Russian intervention in Ukraine… without the formal, express consent and authorisation of the government of Ukraine is unacceptable,” Obama and Merkel agreed in a phone call late Saturday.

Such a move “violates international law, and will provoke additional consequences,” on top of the many economic sanctions already in place against Moscow, the White House added.

In a separate conversation, Obama and Cameron said that a Russian move into Ukraine would be “unjustified and illegal”.

The West has warned for days that Moscow, whom it accuses of backing the separatists, could use the looming humanitarian crisis in eastern Ukraine as a pretext to send in troops.

A spokesman of Russian President Vladimir Putin denied Saturday that Moscow tried to enter Ukraine’s territory as claimed by Kiev.

Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov however later telephoned his US counterpart John Kerry, seeking support for an aid mission to southeastern Ukraine.

More than 285,000 people have fled their homes in eastern Ukraine, according to the UN refugee agency UNHCR.

Local authorities in the east are now warning of a looming humanitarian catastrophe, especially in the second largest rebel-held city of Lugansk, where residents have been without power or running water for days, while fuel and food supplies are running short.

Interesting articles in both British Sunday times and the new York times about the paramilitaries fighting for the Ukrainian authorities. They are without doubt neo Nazis replete with Nazi insignia banned in Germany. Ukrainian forces attacked a hospital in a rebel area yesterday and killed 1. Their response – it’s being used to house rebel arms. Sound familiar? So western hatred of Putin is allowing free reign to neo Nazi paramilitaries to attack their fellow citizens flying their emblems. This information is not from rt, but from British and American newspapers. It’s time the journal started looking at other sources apart from AFP to report on the deepening crisis in Ukraine.

Putin is being vilified in Western media, while Europe pushes for more control. This is all going to blow up within the next year with a major false flag event happening just after the stories come out, just like on September 10th 2011 when a hell of a lotta money went missing from the us treasury and the next day the accounts department of the pentagon was destroyed. Well, first of all how did all that get started. It started with the operation Maidan financed and run by organizations backed financially by the US. A very interesting moment there was when Yanukovich signed an agreement with the protesters that was countersigned by 2 foreign ministers from EU. With that agreement he practically rescinded his power – he agreed to revert to the previous version of the constitution which meant he no longer appointed ministers, he agreed to early elections in about 6 months. He even nominated Yaceniuk for PM, but Yaceniuk refused. What happened next? More riots, snipers shooting at the crowd (most likely they were shooting from a building occupied by the protesters, in the famous footage taken from that very building it can be seen that the bullets come from the same direction as the filming – this was never investigated by the new govt after the coup was accomplished, isn’t that interesting?) just to remove from power a guy who already practically resigned. After that it was clear that a) the groups behind Maidan don’t keep their word or signed agreements and b) they won’t stop at nothing to achieve their goals. Given clear US involvement (both statements from the US, their behavior in the UN and presence of CIA operatives on the ground – btw, the CIA director himself visited clandestinely shortly afterwards, after Russian media broke the story the US admitted he was indeed there) what would you do if you were the president of Russia? Remember, Crimea is Russia’s only port on the Black Sea and this is where their fleet is since 19th century. I am pretty sure he could envision a NATO naval base there pretty soon apart from all the other trouble. They had to do it strategically. The US would do the same if something similar was happening to them (just remember their reaction to regime change in Cuba in the sixties).

A good question is why was all this done, but a comment here is probably not the best place to analyze that. In any case this whole thing was started by the US, Europe was very reluctant to join in because it goes squarely against German & French interests. Actually, my own theory was that this was done by the US also in part to try and break German-Russian partnership. We’ll see if it worked.

And, secondly, they didn’t have to invade Crimea, they were already there. And so was the Russian population living there – isn’t it interesting that despite Western media presence there no shooting or deaths were reported, apparently people there rejoiced at the idea of (re)joining Russia. Isn’t it a strange invasion that takes place without bloodshed and devastation to the cheering of the locals? Somehow in places like Donetsk people have to be shelled with artillery to submit to the idea that they have to stay in Ukraine.

OK, so the West escalates further on a pretext – is there any proof that this “convoy” even existed? Does anyone even believe a convoy of the Russian army could have been stopped by lightly armed Ukrainian border protection soldiers? This is really mad, folks. Apparently someone in the US is really, really afraid. Maybe they think this is the last moment to stop Russia and China from becoming too strong for them to control? Or maybe they think they have to use their military machine before they will loose it when the dollar collapses? Don’t know, but apparently they are bent on starting a conflict that may spiral out of control.

There will be mass riots and civil unrest and Obama will soon be able to bring martial law in to affect like he has been itching to do.
