HOPEFULLY WE WON’T see any repeat of the video above during the forecasted rain and thunderstorms this week.
We’ve already had a weather warning as the tail-end of Hurricane Bertha passed over us.
And if we were under any doubt that the weather had changed, Met Éireann says that we can expect a wet week ahead.
Today, there will be showers in western and northwestern counties, which will spread to all counties in the early part of the day.
We can also expect heavy showers up to late evening, with “thunderstorms likely to break out locally”.
There may be sunny intervals, but highest temperatures will be 15 – 18 degrees, while winds will be “moderate to fresh”.
Tonight, showers will be heavy and even thundery along the Atlantic seaboard.
Tomorrow will see more showers or outbreaks of rain.
As the week goes on, we will see showers becoming more widespread on Wednesday, but some sunny intervals too.
Thursday will also have (you guessed it) sunny intervals and scattered showers, while Friday will have cloud and sunny intervals.
Well, the heat was nice while it lasted.

Agreed. We had a good stint this year. I think most will agree. Won’t take us long to get back into the regular swing of things.
Where’s the heat wave they announced last week?
I think they should have said a wave of heat.
That ten nights when you couldn’t breathe at night because of the humidity, was the heat wave.
As a kid with a violent thunderstorm mum was tucking my sister into bed. She was about to turn off the light when Sis asked with a tremor in my voice, “Mommy, will you sleep with me tonight?” mum chuckled and gave her a reassuring hug. “I can’t dear,” she said. “I have to sleep in Daddy’s room.” After a moment sis shouted “The big sissy.”
The thunder yesterday caused my dog to try get inside the walls for safety lol
Mine climbed through the window, jumped over all the living room furniture with muddy paws and then hid under the sofa. They wished they had stayed outside:)
I do feel sorry for the poor animals, mine rattled for hours on end and hid under the bed.
Okay they won, we’ve moved their beds into the living room for the next few days. Marley on sofa, Joey under it :) They look the part. Next thunderstorm we are going for a walk!

Ah the weather forecaster, great job though. I’d love to walk into work on a Monday morning and say I’m going to get things 10% correct this week or that something might or might not be done.
Ah well, it was a grand summer!!!!
Best Summer or ever, or was that last Summer, can’t really remember as once we get over two weeks of sun it tends to be the best Summer ever. Jesus though it’s depressing to think that here we are in August, and that’s possibly it now until next Summer, much and all as I love this country, the weather drives me nuts.
