Stardust campaigners met with Frances Fitzgerald but weren't happy with the outcome

One survivor said she was not happy with how the meeting went.

CAMPAIGNERS FOR JUSTICE for the Stardust disaster victims met with Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald last month, it emerged today.

The Stardust Victims Committee is demanding a new investigation into the cause of the nightclub fire, in which 48 died and 214 were injured.

One campaigner, Antoinette Keegan, said she was not happy with the meeting, as the Minister asked her why she was there and what did she want.

“I lost my two sisters in the Stardust, and my friends. The Minister knows quite well what we’re looking for is justice and truth on the public record,” said Keegan.

Geraldine Foy, a researcher for the campaigners, gave a submission to the Minister but told her she could not let anyone else see it, said Keegan. Foy is looking to access nine boxes of evidence before she completes the submission.

Foy had previously said in July she was willing to meet Minister Fitzgerald after a meeting was secured by the Labour TD Aodhán Ó Ríordáin who has since been appointed a junior minister at the Department of Justice.

The committee had previously described Minister Fitzgerald as “obviously supportive of the families… and of the truth”.

Minister Fitzgerald, during her time as a Senator, described the Stardust fire as “one of the worst tragedies ever in Ireland” and said the handling of the investigation was ”no victory for politics”.

I bet those responsible go to Mass and confession — they sleep like logs while others have nightmares of their children burning to death. Corruption means DISHONESTY. Oxford English Dictionary. Our politicians are the most corrupt in Europe.

This statement implies that you know every civil servant in Ireland and Europe. It also implies that your knowledge extends to such an extent that you can compare each individual member in Ireland to equivalent members outside Ireland but within Europe. Such a statement defies logic and could not be taken seriously by any neurotypical human being.

Really SeekingUniversalTruth? More corrupt than those in Greece and Bulgaria to name but two European countries that are acknowledged as very corrupt? Astonishing. It s amazing they our civil servants get anything done. With a moniker like SeekingUniversalTruth could you not strive towards a more discerning attitude rather than making sweeping and outlandish statements which tend to undermine the point you are trying to make. Absolutism serves nobody and is certainly not in keeping with your the name you have chosen! I suggest you re-read your well thumbed copies of the great Buddhist classics.

What type of inquiry was the Coffey process if nine boxes of evidence were not viewed by the families team. I’d say they Join Alan Shatter past minister of justice in his court for being denied Al dun partium aware. All evidence was not given. No where to hide now as there is a police investigation into perjury and corruption . The Foy researcher had to get the boxes of evidence.

What does Enda Kenny deem as a justice definition . Answer “dont tell them we know they were lied too and 48 unlawfully killed people one was pregnant with an unborn child are never mean’t to get justice.

Frances Fitzgerald must have meet the strongest minded person in Ireland when Foy has asked her for the nine boxes of hidden evidence.
Dirty corruption once again. Coffey report is denials of truth obviously now proven beyond reasonable doubth.

There is no doubt in mind that if this had happened a few miles down the road in malahide or portmarnock or leafy blackrock the outcome would have been very very differant. Those kids were treated as if they were disposable and forgettable. Fair plau to the families and campaigners the whole thing stinks

Sam well put, the bit nobody knows is the families of the deceased had no fire expert to represent them until now. Those dead kids won’t be the rotten blame for the disaster, the owner must have told lies for insurance fraud and the state must know and backed him up if they had an inquiry a few years ago and hid 9 boxes of evidence from the families legal team.

Richard isn’t it aft aft daft arty aft that you cannot see the point. The owner was paid monies by this state for mass murder on a grand scale while the state never imagined it wanted or needed to questions his lies. Guess what a police investigation into perjury states it all. Now do you imagine you know what the word perjury defines or could you be related to the mass murderer and you need help?

For such a small country the corruption in this state is unreal from the brass neck Charlie haughty era to Bertie and now Enda Kenny, I bet when he was knocking on the doors of artane and surrounding areas for votes he told the lies that he would do everything he could to get justice for the victims and their families. I do hope they get justice but I won’t hold my breath.

What a lot of people don’t realise is Stardust rewrote the book on fire danger around the world. It was the first time they realised super heated smoke could ignite like it did.
Forget how or who’s fault for the start of the fire. The result was nothing anybody thought could happen. This was so much a tragedy. Their ultimately can’t be justice or a person to blame.

Just have to ask..given that so many are unhappy with the job this Minister is doing, in fact it seems to be excuse after excuse for clerical abuse, now the Stardust families, why cant we demand she resign for doing such a poor job and by the way who voted for her in the first place?
