GARDAÍ ARE CONTINUING to question a young teenager over an alleged rape of another teenager in Dublin last night.
Gardaí confirmed to TheJournal.ie that the juvenile is being questioned by gardaí in connection with the serious assault of a female at 11pm in a licensed premises in Rathmines last night.
RTE is reporting that the young male is 14 years old and that he was arrested at a teenage disco in the Tramco nightclub in Rathmines at 11.30pm after a 15 year old girl said she had been raped.
He is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act and can be questioned for up to 24 hours.
It is believed there was no alcohol for sale in the Tramco nightclub last night, where the incident is alleged to have taken place.

Absolutely shocked over this. They say it was in the toilets. I know the men’s toilets always has someone there to mind the place and the girls toilet would usually be packed with women who’d surely stop such a thing from happening.

I have had to delete a stream of comments after this initial one from David. Just to explain, a comment made by another reader after David’s left a remark about the teenage boy in this alleged incident which could go some way towards identifying him.
As this case is currently under investigation and also because it involves alleged sexual assault/rape where the identity of both people involved cannot, by law, be revealed by the media, we have to be incredibly cautious and sensitive about it.
So apologies to all those whose responses to that problematic comment had also to be deleted. There was nothing wrong with them except for the fact that leaving them up would probably make it easy to figure out what was said in that problematic remark.
