IF YOU HAVE ever had to explain a piece of tech jargon like OS or NFC to someone, you will likely know the difficulty in describing them in terms that they will understand.
In the case of URLs (or Uniform Resource Locators if you want to be very technical), you won’t have to worry about explaining it properly as AFP News Agency has put together a quick video breaking down the entire function of a URL.
For those who feel lost hearing the term, each segment is broken down into relatable analogies like the idea that a URL is the online version of an address and what happens if you enter in the wrong letter or character into it.
For the rest of us, treat it as a refresher.

Why is has AFP blocked the video?
I wouldn’t bother with it because it’s simplistic tosh that seems to be aimed at my Nan’s cat, and misses out various vital steps.
For example, when you type a domain name, what happens next? The Internet’s DNS servers need to translate this user-friendly human-readable domain name into its real address, a machine-readable IP address which looks more like a phone number than a postal address. Even my nan’s cat knows that.
Agree.
But this is where the business section of the Journal is at these days. Just putting up crap for the sake of it.
