Three arrests after ambush attack on car in Belfast

An object was thrown at the car and two men got out, one was shot.

A THIRD MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was shot during an ambush in North Belfast on Wednesday night.

The incident happened at about 10.10 pm in Wallasey Park when two men were driving through the Carr’s Glen area and something was thrown at their vehicle. When the car stopped and both men got out one of the men was shot in his right thigh.

The 44-year-old man was treated at a nearby hospital for his injuries that were not life threatening.

Two men aged 46 and 47 were arrested yesterday in connection with the shooting and remain in police custody.

A third man aged 31 years has also now been arrested in North Belfast on suspicion of attempted murder.

The PSNI are continuing to seek the public assistance in investigating the attack and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
