ICELAND’S MET OFFICE has raised its aviation warning to red after a fissure eruption close to the Bardarbunga volcano.
Authorities initially closed the airspace up to 5,000 feet in the area of the eruption, which began just after midnight after cracks and sinkholes were observed in the ice surrounding the volcano.
However, the airspace has since reopened, AFP stated.

An eruption started in Holuhraun north of Dyngjujökull at around 00:02.
Seismic tremor was observed on all seismic stations and the web camera installed in the area by Mila has showed some nice pictures of the eruption.
It is a small fissure eruption and at 02:40 AM the activity appears to have decreased. #bardarbunga
According to Iceland’s Air Navigation Service, ISAVIA, the eruption has produced lava flow, but relatively little airborne ash.
As a result, only a 10-nautical mile radius above the Bardarbunga volcano system, and up to 5,000 ft, is currently closed – as shown in this satellite image:
On Wednesday, the University of Iceland posted this aerial image of the new cracks at Holuhraun, next to the Bardarbunga volcano, which came to a head with last night’s eruption.
The Bardarbunga volcano system was hit by a 5.7 magnitude earthquake on Tuesday, the most powerful in 18 years, raising fears of a destructive eruption that might disrupt air traffic over Iceland.

No state or semi state body should be selling land or any asset which is owned by the people of Ireland to foreign investment funds. We have vulture funds and cukoo funds that were given the red carpet when they arrived and the poorer people in society suffer while at the same time loop holes being left in place where they pay zero tax on profits. The land coillte is selling dosen’t belong to them it belongs to the people of Ireland. Can you imagine what the people who fought for Irish Independence would think of all this.
If anyone thinks this is a good idea. Look at it like this. The biggest lake in the UK and Ireland in Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland and its privately owned by one guy, Nicholas Ashley-Cooper, 12th Earl of Shaftesbury who lives in Dorset. How can one guy own a lake? Lakes and rivers should be the property of the state owned by the people of that country. Coillte are gonna go backwards doing the same with our forestry.

Take 200million from the property tax or rainy day fund and buy the land for the Irish people or the Irish state.

Happy for any investment profit to go to the UK but the people who live here can’t buy a car in the UK without giving them 10k. Have to wonder who they’re working for.
