Enda Kenny talks to reporters in Brussels. EC via EC

Taoiseach: We want a 'jobs and growth' role for Hogan... but it's Juncker's choice

Leaders have arrived in Brussels for a summit to fill two of the EU’s top jobs. Enda Kenny’s also been talking about Phil Hogan’s prospects…

TAOISEACH ENDA KENNY met with the president-elect of the European Commission Jean Claude Juncker today, telling him Ireland would be interested in an EU role in the area of “jobs, investment and growth”.

Kenny spoke to reporters as he and other EU leaders arrived in Brussels for a summit to fill two of the top jobs in the Union.

There has been some speculation recently that Phil Hogan, Ireland’s commissioner-designate, may miss out on the much sought-after agriculture portfolio.

That decision will be solely Juncker’s to make. But Kenny said Ireland had always had very good relations with the former Luxembourg prime minister.

“Obviously he is going to make the appointments,” the Taoiseach said.

I did say to him that Ireland would be interested in a commissioner-ship that would be related to jobs, investment and growth — which are our priority and our hallmark for the duration of this Government.

“Obviously I expect that the Commission President-elect will take this into account.

Hogan is due to hold his first formal meetings with Juncker next week.

I wouldn’t put Hogan in charge of catering facilities in the European Parliament let alone jobs and growth. The guy’s an ape.

Kenny is relentlessly driving Ireland’s cost base up, waste, water, property tax, pharmaceuticals (up to 20 times more expensive in Ireland than UK), electricity, gas, insurance, the litany of cartels that create artificially high prices, eroding our competitiveness and ability to create / sustain jobs. A three card trick corporation tax regime is bringing in all the FDI but the US and OECD are onto us and the Global profit laundering scam will not last. Then it will be down to competitiveness and indigenous industry to create jobs and we will be ruthlessly found out.

I’ve said it on here before; Ireland will get a Commissionership that reflects the quality of the appointee Ireland has out forward.

FG prioritised FG, ahead of the interests of Ireland, and we’ll soon see the outcome of this in the very unimportant portfolio Phil Hogan will get.

Unfortunately it’s a done deal. Inda did a deal with Junker. He said he would support him for the top job if he got a plum job for Ireland. That is why he didn’t side with Cameron in opposing Junker. Watch this space….

This is another opportunity for those who control the corridors of power to send a message to Enda. Unfortunately, when Hogan is awarded a job akin to guarding stationery, Enda will still not see the insult. Sure ’twill be another achievement for FG to celebrate…

Hogan is the reason people don’t trust politicians? Not Haughey or Ahern?
Let’s face it, Hogan is only a small cog, a go for, a scapegoat for the sleeveens who control Ireland and the EU, on behalf of their corporate masters.
Now he will be rewarded with a nice little earner to see him through his twilight years with little stress.

Hogan – ehhh “emerged” after Haughey and Ahern, although he was a player in both those eras, he’s not a scapegoat, having shown himself to be just another liar..
Hogan is not the reason why people should not trust politicians… But he is a prime example.

So this democracy we live in, doesn’t really exist then if it’s all down to one man?

Well not really because there is 4 or 5 people behind the scenes who decides what’s goes on.

Lobbying just like in the US is alive and strong in the EU. The sooner the better people realise what is going on so we can get ourselves out of this corrupt and evil world power.
