TORONTO MAYOR ROB Ford has been diagnosed with a malignant tumour.
Ford will undergo chemotherapy to fight the tumour, his doctor said today.
His diagnosis follows a week of hospitalisation and tests, which led him to leave his re-election campaign and to focus on his health.
The 45-year-old mayor only returned to work in June after two months in rehab for drug and alcohol abuse, including the use of crack cocaine.
Abdominal pains
He was admitted last week to hospital with abdominal pains and a battery of tests showed Ford has malignant liposarcoma, doctor Zane Cohen told a press conference.
Cohen said the rare type of cancer, which arises in soft tissues including fatty tissue, blood vessels, nerves and muscles, is “fairly aggressive.”
“But we are treating this very aggressively in order to eradicate the tumor,” he added. “And we are optimistic about this tumour.”
Over the coming months, Ford will have a cycle of three days of chemotherapy to try to shrink the “relatively large mass,” which measures 12 by 12 centimeters, followed by 18 days of rest, Cohen said.
Doctors will then reassess the cancer. Further chemotherapy, radiation or surgery may be required, he said.
Ford garnered global notoriety for smoking crack cocaine in a “drunken stupor” while in office.
It was announced last Friday that Ford’s brother city councillor Doug Ford is to take his place on the ballot paper.
The election is scheduled for 27 October and two other major candidates are still in the running, as well as Doug Ford.

Quad core but in a speed test against iPhone 6 and HTC M8 the IPhone 6 came out on top followed by the HTC M8 followed by the Samsung. Very surprised that IPhone was quickest.

In fairness the M8 was out months ago. Whatever HTC has to succeed the M8 will be quicker than iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s will be quicker again and so on!
with the smart watches coming online, Devices like this will become more popular.
It’s great phone but I have test device at work and iPhone 6 plus beats it in one aspect for sure – battery life. While note 4 has it decent, ip 6 plus battery is just best.
Get a day and a half easy out of the Samsung.. Same as the iphone but half days are no good to anyone.
I’m on my note 4 alot and I assure you the battery lasts longer. Plus the ultra power save can make it go about 20 days on one charge.
Oh and let’s not forget the fast charge. One hour I’m back at full charge that will last over a day.
That’s just lasting time don’t get me started on the benifits of removable batteries, removable memory. Direct access to hard drive. Access to torrents. Not having to convert movies to QuickTime. Not needing iTunes.. a stand alone that I never ever need to plug into computer. Brilliant software including handwriting recognition which is superb with the s pen.
The note has been the Bentley of the phone market. The iPhone are like the ford’s of the phone market.

Had a Note 2 for the last 2 years and about to crack open the new Note 4. Can’t wait. Many ppl have questions around the size but it’s easy to hold (I kept dropping iPhones) and fits well in my pocket. The size makes itgreat towatch netflix or youtube on. Apple have cottened on to it now too with the 6 and 6plus. I used the stylus quite a bit on the 2…. written notes, shopping lists and screen shots mainly. Overall truly an awesome phone and highly recommended.
Worth it kev. Mine fits in pocket does not bend.
A big huge step up you will notice is the glass. It’s almost impossible to smudge. No case yer (none in stock ) had mine almost a month and not even the most tiny hairline mark. Not cleaned screen and it’s perfect. Very impressive
