The Labour TD was first elected to the Dáil for the Louth constituency in 2011 and has enjoyed a meteoric rise to the Cabinet position.
Before his promotion, Nash sat on the high-profile Public Accounts Committee and now holds the role of junior minister for small business and collective bargaining at the Department of Jobs – a role with ”a lot of meat” in it as he told TheJournal.ie at our offices in Dublin this week.

Trump, in his State of the Union speech, claimed US 8 million dollars was spent on ‘transgender mice’. That’s actually transGENERIC mice, which is research on gene modification in mice. The basic intent in all of this undermining of education, science, media, judges, etc. is to create an ‘official’ Trump endorsed version of reality. The White House will tell you what is real, what is true, who is a good American, who is an enemy of Trump (i.e. America). @Franno: I have two teens with autism and the diversity programmes are important for them. However, I feel like the implementation of said programmes is vastly different from the guidelines. The goal was to offer equal opportunities to people who were automatically discriminated against, but from what I can see it has become a form of reverse discrimination. I work in the private sector and our diversity programme is good. However, my husband works in the public sector and his experience is vastly different, with BoM looking to specifically hire ‘diverse’ people regardless of their skills.

@Franno: I did read and understood your comment. My point is that the programmes are needed but are somehow abused. Ironically, it becomes detrimental to the very people they’re meant to help. There are amazing talents in minorities and hiring them will benefit businesses. But there are also wasters, like in every population, and trying to achieve ‘quotas’ by hiring specifically DEI is not great for a business nor other employees. I don’t want to be hired because I’m a woman or autistic. I want my skills to be looked at regardless of these criteria. Does it make more sense?

However, I think that auditing the programme would be beneficial. If Trinity has nothing to hide about DEI then I don’t see any issue in disclosing it. They can start by explaining how the former Berkeley Library was renamed after a woman poet who received 7% of the public submissions while a white man who gave his life for Irish Freedom received 31% and was ignored. Of course Wolfe Tone might have upset the Brit students. They can also explain the ‘safe spaces’ for trans students on campus, where cis-staff and students are banned from. Trinity College researchers should absolutely have to answer the survey sent by the US government. DEI is a divisive and radical ideology which has no place in any level of education. There is no good reason whatsoever why US taxpayers should have to pick up the bill for left-wing university researchers to push this victimhood mentality and divisiveness in their research.
