Man dies after Carlow crash

Three other men and a woman have been brought to hospital in Kilkenny.

A MAN IN his 40s has died after a road collision in Carlow this afternoon.

Gardaí in Carlow are appealing for witnesses to the crash.

At around 4pm a man in his 40s was fatally injured when the car he was travelling in collided with a 4×4 vehicle on the N80 at Kilnock, Ballon.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

Two other occupants of the car, both male and aged in their 20s and 40s, were taken by ambulance to St Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny. The occupants of the second vehicle, a man and a woman aged in their 60s, were also taken by ambulance to Kilkenny Hospital.

The road is closed and Garda forensic collision investigators are at the scene. Local traffic diversions are in place.

    The above comment is an example of why comments would be better of closed for these stories,speculation about the cause of the crash and the generic RIP is not good for anyone. I highly doubt the family come on here to see all the ‘heart felt ‘condolences.( i know im speculating in a comment giving out about speculating).

    The weather had a part to play in this crash I would imagine. Even modern cars can’t keep people safe from the weather. RIP.

    I know what it like as i was down that road my self 4 years a go on the m9 north bond. my that poor mam sole rest in peace :-(
