Ireland's €87 million EuroMillions ticket was sold in Dublin

Bad news though, whoever has it has already contacted the National Lottery.

Updated 11pm

IRELAND’S LATEST EUROMILLIONS winner bought their winning ticket in Dublin.

The National Lottery have confirmed that the €86.7 million winning ticket was sold in the Dublin and the ticketholder has already contacted them.

Friday night’s €86,732,923 jackpot is the third largest ever win lotto win in Ireland.

There was much speculation over the course of the weekend about where the winner or winners were from, but the National Lottery has this evening said that the ticket was bought in the capital.

No other specific location has been given but the National Lottery  has said that the ticketholder has made contact with them “and is looking forward to collecting the prize”.

Apart from the jackpot win, 59,000 players in Ireland won a cash prize in Friday’s draw, including one player who matched five numbers to win €35,654.

Last June, Ireland’s second largest ever ticket was also sold in Dublin when Mace in Beaumont sold the €94 million winner.

Limerick’s Dolores McNamara continues to hold the record for the largest Irish EuroMillions win of over €115 million in 2005.

@NotMyIreland: All fingers crossed for them. It’s still possible that they’re on some ridge & can be reached in time.

@John Arsey: obviously that must be the case. It’s not large compared to the scale of the sea !

@John Arsey: the whole point of having a submarine is that they are as stealthy as possible

@Claudio Cavaliere: so there’s no protocol to deal with an Emergency on a submarine then?

@John Arsey: Don’t forget MH370, we thought when that went missing we said the exact same thing.
