Belfast politicians vow not to be scared by "hand-delivered bullets"

The bullets were delivered to two politicians on Friday.

TWO NORTHERN IRISH politicians have vowed not to be deterred even after being delivered envelopes with bullets.

Alliance Party Belfast councillor Emmett McDonough-Brown and south Belfast representative Duncan Morrow were each hand-delivered bullets on Friday.

They say that despite the threatening deliveries, they will not be put off their jobs.

“We will not be deterred from representing the people of South Belfast by those who hand delivered these bullets to our homes,” said McDonough-Brown, who said that the party’s non-sectarian ideology “scares” some people.

“Elected representatives should be able to work on behalf of their constituents without the fear of violence or intimidation.

“These people are afraid of what Alliance stands for. Their attempt at intimidation will not succeed. My colleagues and I will continue our work to make Belfast a more open and prosperous city for everyone.”

Duncan Morrow said that those responsible were “mistaken” if they believed

“Those responsible are mistaken if they believe that this will stop us from continuing our work to deliver a shared future for everyone in our society. They offer Belfast nothing and only wish to see a return to the dark days of the past.”

A PSNI spokesperson told TheJournal.ie that they couldn’t comment on individual cases.

“We do not discuss the security of any individual. However, if we receive information that a person’s life may be at risk, we will inform them accordingly. We never ignore anything which may put an individual at risk.”

For some people, voting for an alternative politician is not enough. Imagine our society if such people held power!

You do realise that it is mstly the loyslists who hate the alliance party, just look at the Anne Lo incident.

p.s. why do you feel the need to paint all Sinn Fein voters in the same light, i would imagine about 70% of my townland vote for them and are not terrorists.
