WATCH: David Cameron lets slip that the Queen "purred" after Scottish referendum defeat

Alex Salmond thinks he should “hang his head in shame” for disrespecting her.

BRITISH PRIME MINISTER David Cameron has been asked to apologise for saying that Queen Elizabeth “purred” with contentment after he informed her that Scottish voters had rejected independence.

The Conservative leader was caught by news cameras yesterday, chatting in New York with businessman and former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Bloomberg News / YouTube

David Cameron: The definition of relief is being Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and ringing the Queen and saying, “It’s alright, it’s okay.”That was something.

She purred down the line…

But it should never have been that close, it wasn’t in the end.

There was a time in the middle of the campaign when it felt…

Michael Bloomberg: But that’s the press, they have to have stories…they put up the polls…

DC: Yeah… I’ve said I want to find these polling companies and I want to sue them for my stomach ulcers because of what they put me through, you know…

It was very nervous moments.

MB: That’s why you get paid the big bucks.

DC: Yeah.

Scottish National Party leader Alex Salmond has been among the first to attack Cameron for what he called his “pathetic” conduct, and suggested some Scottish voters would have been only delighted to hear they gave the UK Prime Minister an ulcer.

David Cameron has been Prime Minister for four years, and he hasn’t learned the basic civility of not gossiping about what Her Majesty the Queen thinks or doesn’t think, to Michael Bloomberg or anyone else…
That’s absolutely pathetic, and he should hang his head in shame.

Betty has been around for so long that people have gotten attached to her all over Britain.

When she dies it will be a big shift for the net generation and if they think that they can keep creaming off the top like she and those before her did then even England will dump them.

They’ll have to start acting more like European Royals and drop the pomp and arrogance.

As is, it would not be hard to see Scotland ridding itself of them in the next few decades.

A few year’s ago it was shown that it cost about 60/70 pence per citizen per year in the Uk. To have the monarchy. In a poll very shortly after where people were asked if they thought this was acceptable. The general feeling was really is that all it cost us. With some 80/90% saying that’s quite good value.
Sorry haven’t got exact figures or who done the maths or poll. But dont really care enough to go looking for them. Just remember it. As some amusing factoid.
The only thing I find strange is. The complete underestimating of the attachment of the citizens of the UK to the monarchy.

Heading to 70k new SNP members since end of Ref. campaign. They have nearly trebled their membership.

The other Yes parties, the Greens and SSP have doubled in size as well.

    Scottish Labour’s membership is imploding.

Alex can step back knowing that he has brought them to within striking distance, motivated the under 55′s to take charge of their country and lives, the No side are being shafted by Labour and the Tories and England will play its role in breaking up the moribund Union, to everyone’s benefit.

Next generation of SNP leaders are every bit as good as he is, Sturgeon is better.

Things are rosy in the Salmond house despite the recent pain.

The SNP goal now is to gain a majority of MPs in Scotland at the next general election on an independence ticket. They can then declare independence. That what Salmond means when he says a referendum isn’t the only route to independence. Jack Straw wants to make it illegal to dissolve the union without Westminster approval. The union is a dead man walking.
