A BOMB HOAX caused the evacuation of Sandy Hook Elementary school in Connecticut today, targeting the school devastated by a shooting massacre which killed 26 pupils and teachers there nearly two years ago.
The threatening phone call was made to the school at 9.39 am (2.39 pm Irish time), after which the school was evacuated and students brought to safety at a nearby school, local TV station NBC Connecticut reports.
Police in the town of Monroe combed the school and found nothing.
Newtown School Superintendent Dr Joseph V Erardi sent parents of pupils this automated voice message, according to local media…
Everything is fine. All students and staff are absolutely 100% safe.
There was a bomb threat to the building early this morning that had low to no credibility. We will continue to err on the side of student and staff safety.
The students were sent home around noon, and police are investigating the hoax.
Sandy Hook Elementary School was transferred from the site of the 2012 massacre, in Newtown, to a school building in nearby Monroe, in January 2013.
The assailant, Adam Lanza, shot dead 20 six and seven-year-old children, and six school staff, on 14 December 2012, before taking his own life.
The attack shocked America and intensified the country’s ongoing gun control debate.
On Tuesday alone, two teenagers were injured after school shootings in North Carolina and Kentucky, bringing to 86 the number of such incidents since the Sandy Hook massacre.

Any basic understanding of the science told the story, it was just 21st century alchemy. But, then again, fools and their money are very easily parted and so it lasted a short but embarrassing while.
I invested a few quid in it, sure it was chicken feed at the time. Wish I had it now!
