Permanent TSB hit by 'short-term' technical glitch

But don’t worry, it’s all fixed now.

A SMALL NUMBER of Permanent TSB customers were hit by a technical glitch earlier today resulting in their debit cards being declined.

A spokesperson for the bank described it as a “very short term issue”.

They said that the cards were inaccessible for ‘a minute or two’, but within that space of time as many as 200 transactions were affected.

“The issue has now been resolved,” the spokesperson added, “We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers.”

Earlier this year in July, the bank suffered a similar issue, leaving customers unable to pay in shops or withdraw money.

This issue lasted for a longer period of time, and affected more customers.

    I don’t care, I’m still switching to them next week. Tired of paying bank fees with AIB !!! Only laziness stopped me switching sooner !

    I got an email last week apparently from Permanent TSB telling me to click on the link or my account would be closed down. Funny thing is I don’t and never did have an account with them!!!!

    Ah here if only 200 were affected and it was only for a few minutes I’d say nobody even noticed.

    Mine was gone for at least 45 mins, left red faced in supermarket with a trolley full of shopping, on hold to open 24 for 20 mins while trying my card in atm. ..

    Several banks have had glitches upon glitches when it comes to customers accessing money and paying bills. Don’t they have enough money to pay out or not? Should we be moving our banking elsewhere?

    You need to have funds to access them. That got me caught a few times.

    Liam – perhaps check with Open24 as I had no problem using my card – just wish there was more money in my account. Hope it’s resolved for you soon!

    I contacted them on Friday and again today, they apologized ( after I had to convince them my card still wasn’t working) and said they’d “send it back to IT”. Every time I check an ATM it says “service currently unavailable” and people are taking cash from the ATM so it’s not that

    All the banks have had a problem now ? I think they want us all to think what it would have been like had the government let them go to the wall and maybe it could start all over again when their books are examined again at the end of the year .

    It happened me on Friday, the card declined and we tried again it worked the second time. Went home and checked my account and the amount of the transaction came out twice as the pending transaction was exactly double. If it happened anyone on here make sure to check your online banking
