Parents of 3 children killed in MH17 crash release heartbreaking statement

The parents say their lives are “an ongoing hell”.

Updated 8.30pm

THE PARENTS OF three young children who were on board the crashed MH17 flight have released a heartbreaking statement.

The statement, which is published in several Australian news outlets today, is said to have been released through Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The children, Mo (12), Evie (10) and Otis Maslin (8) were travelling with their grandfather Nick Norris on board the MH17 when it crashed in east Ukraine.

SBS reports that the statement from Anthony Maslin and Marite Norris says:

Our love and respect for our children remains unlimited and unconditional. It will never weaken – our children have been our entire world. We have been two of the luckiest and happiest people on the planet. What remains for us now is to honour our children.

The parents describe their lives as “an ongoing hell”, saying “the pain we are enduring is unfathomable”.

They state:

Please respect our children’s memory, and stop this pointless war.

Flight MH17 was brought down over east Ukraine on 17 July. All on board died.

A report released in September said that the plane broke up in the air after being pierced by “high-energy objects”.

Tony Abbots comment on this is spot on
Earlier Abbott told reporters: “Look, I’m going to shirt-front Mr Putin … you bet I am. I’m going to be saying to Mr Putin: Australians were murdered and they were murdered by Russian-backed rebels using Russian-supplied equipment. We are very unhappy about this. We accept that you didn’t want this to happen, but we now demand that you fully co-operate with the criminal investigation and if the criminal investigation identifies suspects that you have some influence over, they’ve got to be produced and justice has got to be done.”

Abbott might have his heart in the right place, but his public statements to media and crucially on behalf of the Australian government have looked voter-friendly and without a degree of real back-up. He made an ass of himself months ago when he stated the search for MH370 was reaching a conclusion. He based that on believing information Australia received was accurate. Abbott, with the best of intentions, is like someone who believes every nation is Australia’s best friend – whether China, Malaysia or the USA – and is only now realising he has been stuck with a billion dollar search and commitment he never planned for. He’s like a man who went on holiday, invited all his new friends to call in next time they were in town, and ended up months later with the world on his doorstep.

I doubt Putin is quaking in his boots or shirt!

Declan those comments where made for a domestic audience by a PM whose doing worse in the polls than any other Australian leader for half a century. His overseas focus has stemmed the slide, for now. Sooner or later he’ll have to return to domestic issues and Australia’s budget deficit surpassing the USA’s at the end of last month means he’s in serious strife. No leader can double the budget deficit in his first month in office by giving business tax breaks, and triple it in 12 months, and then survive. Putin was a smokescreen and there is no way know he will raise MH370 with Putin at the G20 because there no value to Abbott in doing so, he’s already made all the political mileage he’s going get out of it.

Tough on the parents. They need answers.
Let’s hope the final report isn’t kept secret as the four parties(UK, Ukraine, Belgium, Netherlands) have agreed can happen if any party objects to any part of the report.
Despite what the Western Mainstream Media claims that the plane was shot down by Ukrainian rebels this narrative has been ridiculed by experts. Why people still believe the narrative the Western media outlets push down people throats is beyond me.

“Here William F. Engdahl, political expert, who has taken the effort to study the evidence available, beyond social media accounts. He list what is not, shares his opinion of what happened to the Malaysian Airlines plane and gives insight into possible motivations and why the unsubstantial claims do not hold water.

Mr. Engdahl, what have you deduced from examining the evidence concerning this flight?”

So your *expert* and source is in fact, Mr. Engdahl, a *political* expert who uses *evidence* he garnered from the media.

Yeh, a political expert is exactly the kind of person we should be paying attention to in an aircraft investigation.

Just for the record, there are 24 members from 7 nations making up the investigation team (including Russia).

Horgay, you will always ignore the evidence right in front of you. You will always go and find some obscure individual who cannot back up anything with real evidence. The main stream media will not be doing the investigation. Experts who work with the airlines will be doing that.

Just to clarify as well, because I’ve no idea where Belgium popped up in Horgay’s comment. Belgium are not even part of the international investigation of accredited representative nations. There were originally 7 nations making up 24 members (Ukraine, who were originally the lead nation because that is where the crash site is, Malaysia, the airline involved, USA, because the aircraft was made by Boeing, UK, because they have some of the best facilities for black box forensics, Germany, Australia and Russia). The Dutch were originally tasked with independently investigating the flight route. Ukraine, several days after the investigation team was formed, decided to delegate their lead role to the Dutch (DSB), 1, because it had suffered the largest passenger loss, 2, in the interest of balance as the finger pointing had already begun at Russia and Ukraine from various sides, 3, because the Dutch are a nation with considerable experience and expertise in aircraft investigation.

There are two areas of this investigation, the aviation side of it, and the criminal investigation. They should not be confused. Criminal investigators do not investigate aircraft matters, no more than crash investigators investigate criminal matters. There are many more nations involved (Canada, Philipines and Belgium), but more accurately assisting the criminal investigation. Information between the investigations is often shared. Ultimately, the air investigation will make recommendations….

The aircraft investigation has no powers of arrest or prosecution. It can only pass information to criminal authorities if it believes and recommends action needs to be taken, or changes within the aviation industry need to be made. If an aircraft investigation (during the period of investigation) discovers evidence that a criminal act has occured, it will not make this evidence publicly available for consumption in the event it compromises or hinders the possibility of a successful prosecution. Most investigations (air or criminal) operate under non-disclosure agreements, particularly when sensitive international security data is being shared between parties. It’s not uncommon for one member to invoke a veto if agreement on the exact causes of an investigation are not agreed upon. It’s critical that when the final report is delivered and made public that all members agree on the findings. International aircraft investigations historically are littered with examples where not all nation members agreed with the final report findings. Usually, if there is criminal action, it is already well underway prior to the final report being made public.

The RT article is as confused as Horgay is, and like his claimed *expert* earlier is entirely charged with a political agenda without any evidence to back up what is stated in the article. With all due respect, Russia Today (RT) is the FOX News voicepiece of the Russian Federation in the western world. I watch RT. I even enjoy some of their docu output. And, yes, they present alternative views on western media takes on what happens in the world. Nothing wrong with that. It’s called media editorial opinion. The trouble is, they adopt this growing non-establishment view that if everything presented as news is seen as “alternative” then it must be true, regardless of facts. It’s like listening to two groups of people claiming something is white, the other claiming it’s black, and RT chiming in to say “actually it’s grey” so therefore we report the alternative truth.

So you think questioning the “accepted” version of events is a bad thing? Do you have some first hand proof of what happened. You were there when the supposed Russian rebels pushed the button. I’m sure in Russia there are as many brain-dead people like you that fully believe everything Putin says too. You and the rest of the Sheep are the type that follow orders and herb people into ovens with your unquestioning obedience to the power structure. The rest of the sane people of the world know both sides are being very economical with the truth to push the own agendas.

Oh – and to equate someone disagreeing with your predictably limited thoughts to a nazi that “…herb (sic) people into ovens…” might just be a tad over the top. Go outside and get some air.

Indeed, there is. But all aviation investigations leading to serious aircraft impact of any kind are referred to with “crash” as opposed to an investigation into a breach of protocol, like say a runway incursion or near miss.

The preliminary report itself is headed: *Crash involving Malaysia Airlines 777-200 flight MH17*.
