Protesters against the Roscommon Hospital cuts arrive in Dublin Sam Boal/Photocall Ireland

Enda Kenny made election pledge to protect Roscommon A&E

The Taoiseach promised to “defend” the hospital’s emergency ward, which will be closed tomorrow.

TAOISEACH ENDA KENNY made a pre-election promise to “protect and defend” the A&E unit that will be shut down tomorrow, it has emerged.

In a speech made in Roscommon town on February 8, Kenny called on listeners to vote for local Fine Gael TDs Frank Feighan and Denis Naughten, a recording made by the Sunday Business Post (print edition) shows. He added “You know in the accident and emergency [...] what can be done in your own local hospital here.

“We will protect and defend that [...] We are committed to maintaining the services at Roscommon General Hospital.”

A spokesman for the Taoiseach said “any commitments” were made before a HIQA report which raised safety fears.

The paper also reports that Minister for Health Dr James Reilly pushed for the downgraded facility at the hospital to be labelled an “urgent care centre”, rather than the HSE’s preferred “minor injury unit”. The downgrading of services has sparked furious protests from local resdents.

It’s what’s called a Politicians word ???? – no word at all – when they fool people like us into voting for FG/LAB. into Goverment – with an absolute Election Commitment and that puts them into leading the Government where they then replicate their predecessors FF’s lack of good word too ! – unfortunately now, The Taoiseach word means for NOTHING ! – surprise , surprise !
And they want the opposition to wear suits and ties – so as to look like them – Enda – you have only got your word once and you have broken it already after 120 days !
Am I right to be cynical !!!!

There needs to be an (enforceable) law ….. LYING TO THE ELECTORATE. Unfortunately it would have to be enacted by the very people who it is designed to regulate. Perhaps the electorate could be given a chance to speak in this respect by adding a poll to the fourth coming referendum.

Haha! Ignorant lambs actually believe political rhetoric. Shame on you all! The Taoiseach is not to blame at all. The uneducated lambs like yourself are! Two classes in this nation… The ruling class and most of you fools reading this. Fact of life. Nothing you can do. Live with it. Cry-babies. Long live the Taoiseach and God Save the Queen!

The most, if not only, surprising fact in this whole story is that people are actually shocked by this….

What would be good to see in the next election is for nobody to vote at all. Then where would they all be in their ‘ suitable attire ‘ ?
