Only had one knock on the door, thankfully. Little policeman and an even littler pirate with their mam and dad. Lucky i had bought myself a four pack of twix bars so they got one each. Damn cute kids.

No. Why does it make you sad? I’ve always loved this time of year, it’s magical. Brilliant for kids especially.

It has always made me sad. It is a remembrance of those we loved who have died. Perhaps I over think it. I hate thinking of my loved ones as ghouls!! But I get into the spirit of the day, prepare little bags of goodies for my trick or treaters, so I don’t spread my moroseness to them! But I still hate it!!

Mary I really miss my loved ones but I don’t regard them as ghouls. They loved this time too and we’ll love it after we’re gone and hopefully we won’t be ghouls.

Thanks Jamie, I am not for one minute suggesting that people should not enjoy it. I am cheery to all those who call to my door, most of whom I know. I was just wondering if I was the only one who found this day lonely.

Halloween is great craic! Some costumes are amazing. But am I the only one that thinks the fun has gone!?!!!

My memories are of Halloween dressed in a black plastic bag or sheet, this is where the imagination goes into overdrive!

It was alway any apples or nuts and we were delighted with what we got!then it was bonfires galore before bed.

Four kids called to my house tonight, very disappointing and not a bonfire in a mile radius of me!

Maybe I’m getting old! Hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween :)

I absolutely detest Halloween and everything about it, I had 7 “kids”, knock at same time, in other words a group of teens with bags held straight out “trick or treat”. When I asked them what’s the treat they looked at me like I had 10 heads, so in other words, just shove a load of sweets in our bags for no reason, uuuuuggggghhhhhhhhh

They don’t owe you a treat. “Trick or treat” means give us a treat or we’ll play a trick on you. That’s always been the meaning, although some kids still do a party piece. My very young nieces sang at every house this year. It’s just a bit of fun, I doubt anyone would really play a trick on you if you don’t take part. I certainly don’t begrudge my neighbours children a few sweets one night a year.
