'I'll kiss your neck, back, the sweet cantaloupes of your rump' - This letter to Marilyn will make you blush

Arthur Miller was the king of sexting before mobile phones even existed…

“I WILL KISS you and hold you close to me and sensational things will then happen”.

That is just one of the racey things Marilyn Monroe’s third husband Arthur Miller wrote to her in a letter that will be going on display in Kildare from today.

Newbridge Silverware’s Museum of Style Icons has an exhibition of the Hollywood star’s most cherished love letters. They were among items found under her bed after she died in August 1962 and are due to be auctioned off in Hollywood after being on display for a week at the Kildare museum.

In one letter dated April 30, 1956, Miller writes that when they are back together again and she awakens next to him:

I will kiss you and hold you close to me and sensational things will then happen. All sorts of slides, rollings, pitchings, rambunctiousness of every kind. And then I will sigh. And when you rest your head on my shoulder, then slowly I will get HUNGRY.

He goes on to say:

I will come again to the kitchen, pretending you are not there and discover you again. And as you stand there cooking breakfast, I will kiss your neck and your back and the sweet cantaloupes of your rump and the backs of your knees and turn you about and kiss your breasts and the eggs will burn.

The exhibition includes other items never before seen by the public, like photographs and personal items that offer a rare glimpse into the private life of Monroe through various momentos she chose to keep. The collection was originally given to her mentor and coach Lee Strasberg, who later gifted it to a friend.

Marie Brennan from Newbridge Silverware said these letters “have to be seen to be believed”.

“The great passion and love that Miller writes for Marilyn is particularly evident in the letters and this is the effect she had on men,” she said. “It is one of the most exciting visiting exhibitions to ever come to Ireland and to Newbridge.”

If you want to get a look at these filthy letters before they are auctioned off, get down to the museum in Newbridge before 28 November.

So incredibly pointless – it’s purely political. France has just as many cases of the new variant as the U.K!

@Theportobello: ‘France’s Covid figures are also high, with Johns Hopkins recording 63,416 cases in France in the last day, while French Health Minister Gabriel Attall told BFMTV that there were 240 confirmed Omicron cases in the country.’

@Theportobello: I’m ok with political when it comes to sanctimonious Brits. Well done our closest EU neighbour.
