People marched against water charges in Waterford and Jobstown today

Gardai say there were no public order incidents at either protest.

A NUMBER OF marches were held in different parts of the country this afternoon against water charges and austerity.

A large march was held in Waterford City organised by a number of groups including the Anti Water Meter Task Force Waterford.

Several hundred people took part in the march and gardaí say there no arrests or public order incidents.

Another march was held in Jobstown in Tallaght this afternoon that was designated as a “Community March For Jobstown”.

The area was thesite of last week’s protest that saw Tánaiste Joan Burton prevented from leaving the area when her car was blocked.

Today’s protest saw the marchers gather at the Jobstown House before hearing speeches and music.

Gardaí also say there were no incidents at this event.

    Could the ISPCC run an ad campaign showing a woman neglecting/ abusing a child to bring some balance to their campaigns that normally highlight men neglecting /abusing children? I have no doubt that If it had been a man, he would have been given a custodial sentence, that’s the way we roll in Ireland.
