ALMOST 500,000 PEOPLE tuned in to watch the TV3 Toy Show.
The Christmas Toy Show was watched by an average of 472,100 people (28.16% of those watching television), with the programme reaching 1.1 million people in total.
Last year, the show achieved average viewing figures of 352,000.
This year the programme took a 40% share of housekeepers with children watching television and a 54.41% share of children aged 4-14.
More than 2,000 people watched the show on the TV3 Player.
The peak quarter (20:30 – 20:44) averaged 545,300 viewers and a 33.64% audience share. It was also the most watched programme during its one-and-a-half hour time slot on Friday.
Among the highlights of the show was presenter Brian McFadden’s suit.
Victoria O’Brien, the show’s executive producer, described it as a “huge success”.
It was a 90 minute live show but everyone had so much fun that the time flew by. The fantastic ratings prove that there really is room for two toy shows in Ireland and we’re already looking ahead to next year’s.
Last year, RTÉ’s Toy Show was watched by an average of 1.4million viewers. This year’s show is due to air on Friday. As of yet, there’s no word on what Ryan Tubridy will be wearing.

Brian McFadden looked like a bankrupt selection box.
It was crap. Seemed all tv3 wanted to do was take a swipe at RTE. Add breaks every few minutes. I sat down to watch it with my 6 & 8 year olds who heard the comments about the mammy’s buying the toys. Although that was easy enough explain away I had more trouble trying to explain away Brian Dowling’s naked, topless cross dresser action man remarks. Call me a prude if u wish but I found it very inappropriate.
My 6 and 4 yr old thought it was awful.. And it was..
No magic, no fun, just a few toys fecked around the floor. And Bill Cullen isnt that Christmassy either.
Zero out of Ten.

The Brian dowling thing was pretty cringey and inappropriate. Did no one mention that it was a show for kids!!!

It was one loooong advertisement for Spar in fairness. Ad breaks every other ten minutes also. The show between the ads was okay though.

I didn’t like it at all. To many adds and it’s nothing compared to the toy show on RTE.
I doubt those 500,000 stayed to the end so those figures don’t mean much.
Brian Dowling’s comments were ridiculous and inappropriate for a kids show.
Way to many add breaks thought Karen done a good job, Brian was awful though

I tried to watch it on 3player. Gave up after 30mins. Best part was seeing the coke ad 6 times!!
I taped it skipped all the adds and my children still thought it was rubbish roll on Tubs
I cant say if the show was good or not because to be honest I turned it on my daughter didnt give a fiiddlers about it and Mcfadden in his suit,I just said fu## this for a game of soldiers to myself,him of all people,nah,ill wait till the late late toy show.

Watched for a while but mcfadden looked so awkward and unsure about the gig. I had to turn it off when bill Cullen arrived. Nothing magical about that show. In all fairness to rte I think they own it… Regardless of the presenter. But then again gay done a great job on it. Tv3….. Please don’t do it again.
Karen did a good job and the set was nice but they could’ve chosen a better male presenter . Brian was awful , he interrupted every child too soon after he had asked them a question. Also it wouldn’t hurt to make sure the toys are going to work just before going on air !!
Sat down to watch it with an open mind, I have no opinion on Mc Fadden, well I do now he was rubbish! Myself and 4 children stopped watching the tv over the course of the show. Little time given to the few toys they showed between the too regular ad breaks! And their celebs??? Bill Cullen?? Can’t think of the girls name now, but the kids didn’t know her! And who were the 2 boys??? I don’t think they will pull in the numbers viewing next year tbh

Personally really didn’t like it. It was really dull and lifeless comparing to the other Toy Show. Watched it with kids & they got bored 10 mins into it.

I felt it was actually quite bad, McFadden kept making inappropriate comments, Jedward came along and smashed the board games, triggering an ad break, what was with that like?
I was annoyed they cancelled ‘Britain’s worst binman’ to put this on. Thankfully I don’t pay for a TV licence and that if I did it wouldn’t be wasted on copying already poor RTE efforts. I bet you TV3 are working on a ‘toy’ show for ‘grown-ups’.
It was called a toy show pity they only had a few toys. Jedward was a nightmare.

I wish they hadn’t made the toys look for girls or boys. My niece loves dinosaurs & transformers, it’s a pity they couldn’t have made the toys a bit more gender neutral.
TV 3 should stick to what they are good showing programmes made by others. What a load of shite
