Top tips to take your sandwich-making skills to the next level

Turkey, ham, cranberry sauce, lettuce…

CHRISTMAS IS THE season of the sandwich.

Due to the infinite supply of ham and turkey in the house, paired with the fact that we become too lazy to do any actual cooking, sandwiches are in demand over Christmas.

Let’s be honest, other than turkey, the sandwich really is the king of the Christmas period.

With infinite varieties and ingredients, the possibilities are truly endless — and endlessly delicious.

But not all sandwiches are created equal. There can be sloppy sandwiches, soggy sandwiches, and sandwiches that fall short of their true potential.

To ensure you make the most of your leftovers, here are some simple tips and tricks that will up your game and take your sandwich-making skills to the next level:

Mix it up. Instead of butter, try making your grilled cheese with mayonnaise — the ingredients break down into a delicious assortment of oil, egg, and seasoning.

To beat soggy sandwiches, let your tomato slices rest on a paper towel while you’re preparing the rest of your sandwich. Put them on last, and sprinkle with a little bit of salt (and pepper or herbs for added kick).

If you’re making your own sub sandwich, only slice the baguette 3/4 of the way through so ingredients don’t fall off while you’re eating it.

To keep wraps and burritos from falling apart, warm your tortilla before you start rolling everything together. Just for 10 seconds on each side in a pan, or quickly in the microwave — you’ll be surprised how well your wrap stays together.

In the morning, you can make a quick breakfast sandwich in a mug: Add egg, cheese, meat, veggies, and whatever else your heart desires. Microwave it for one minute, and then slide the contents onto a toasted bagel or piece of bread.

One of the easiest ways to make your sandwich better is to toast the bread or use a panini press. The cheese will melt and the bread will sop up all the delicious juices without disintegrating.

@Adrian: Twitter has been around over 15 years and still hasn’t posted a profit. Profitability in Tech is not as important as in traditional businesses

@ForeverFeel1ng: You’re joking right? Twitter surviving for 15 years without making a profit hints that it’s being kept afloat for other reasons, just like loss making newspapers.

@ForeverFeel1ng: Said no investor ever. Twitter is being kept afloat like a newspaper making losses: it’s a great propaganda and political agitation tool.

Intercom, isn’t that a communication device used in shopping centres. A mic and a speaker. The simple things, eh! Wish I thought of it.

Very interesting and innovative business model!

Finally, a powerful, scalable, efficient, growth supporting, and cost effective management tool / business platform capable of capturing and pulling together all channels of communications between likely participators in the global marketplace seeking the particular product or service and the firm offering same.

Early days, but with 25,000 customers already contributing $50 mil in annual Revenues, outlook is excellent for Intercom. Tenfold increase in customer base is a distinct possibility, which would comfortably justify existing valuations mentioned. Clearly, with $241 m invested already, someone has lots of faith!

    Congratulations to all concerned!

I’m a bit uncomfortable with these valuations on, thus far, unprofitable companies.

The FAANG companies are already responsible for a huge proportion of market valuations. I hope we’re not heading for another dotcom bubble.

I wouldn’t be investing in them, they are swelled with VC money, $50mil Revenue is peanuts and VC money will need to be paid back sometime. Their product is essentially a chatbox which is tiresome for website visitors and very expensive compared to free alternatives (Drift etc)

They will be bust in a couple of years, big valuation comes with a price… But hopefully they will make a lot of moneys for them self’s.
