THE COUNTRY’S TWO government parties have fallen significantly in the most recent poll, with Fine Gael now at its lowest point since 2003.
The latest Irish Times MRBI poll found just 16% of people would vote for Fine Gael if an election were held to tomorrow, putting them down three points since the last Irish Times poll in October, and only 5% would vote Labour.
Sinn Féin is again the most popular party in the country according to this poll, as 17% of people said they would vote for them, though the party has fallen slightly since the October poll. The Maíria Cahill controversy does not appear to have damaged party popularity much but leader Gerry Adam’s own rating dropped 11 points. Despite that, he is still the most popular party leader.
As for Fianna Fáil, which is now starting picking election candidates, 16% would favour them on the ballot paper.
The rising popularity of the independents and others continues to soar at a considerable 25% while 22% of people said they were undecided. The poll found more than one third who said they would choose independents and others would do so because they did not trust the established parties.
The Taoiseach’s own satisfaction rating also took a dive, seven points to 19%, making him the least popular party leader in the Dáil right now.

When you see some of the comments being posted here I have come to the conclusion that some people should never be let near a computer.
Why have our idiot government only donated a paltry 1 million euros in our name to the Philippines when the have given 13 million euro of taxpayers money to Libya this year. Why and for what???

A valid comment
The scale and immediate urgency of the Philippines disaster means that there is a huge potential to save a vast number of lives if the fastest possible action is taken.
Iraq and Afghanistan, and indeed Syria and so many other places need aid, but the Philippines needs immediate international aid intervention and there is no military risk to aid workers in doing so.
The Philippines is a true emergency.
All human lives are equally valuable but intervention where it can do most good and is most urgently needed has to take short term priority.
Get pacquiao to do it… He’s getting paid a ridiculous amount of money to get in the ring, millions infact

Dermot and Leona,I’m not been bad about my comments.its just how I feel.but I do think they need help,I think they need caring hands and not money .
They need money, what money can buy, and they need financial, material, medical and health care resources desperately, urgently and ISPs as large quantities as possible. Many more people will dies miserably and unnecessarily otherwise. We all owe a duty to help.
