Which games should you get for your Xbox One this Christmas?

Microsoft’s console has had a steady twelve months, but which games are worth paying attention to?

SIMILAR TO THE PS4, the Xbox One was released a year ago – shortly after its rival launched – and while it mightn’t have sold the same number of consoles as the PS4, it has more than made up for it with the collection of games on offer.

But which ones are worth paying attention to? Here are a selection of the best games out there.

Are you a PS4 or Wii U owner? A list for Sony’s console can be found here while Nintendo’s console will be covered tomorrow evening.

Forza Horizon 2
Where else can you get it:
Xbox 360

Probably one of the best racing series released, Forza Horizon 2 focuses more on open-world racing instead of licensed tracks and is all the better for it. Hidden routes, a large roster of cars and excellent visuals makes this a delight to play.

Those looking for the thrill of mastering the intricacies of real-world courses may be left disappointed, but that shouldn’t take away from what is an accomplished game.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection
Where else can you get it:
N/A

For Halo fans, getting the revised edition will be a no-brainer, but for everyone else, you will get to experience one of the best FPS series released on the Xbox, with the four games including updated visuals and improved multiplayer modes.

IGN / YouTube

Dragon Age: Inquisition
Where else can you get it:
Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, PC

A word of warning: if you start playing Dragon Age: Inquisition, you’re going to be in it for the long haul. A massive world to explore with tons to do and a great combat system means it’s an essential purchase if you’re into fantasy RPGs (and if not, there’s still much to enjoy here should you give it a chance).

Nightfall Edits / YouTube

Plants Vs Zombies: Garden Warfare
Where else can you get it:
Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, PC

A game that originally started out as a tower defence game has branched out into the third-person shooter genre. Bright, colourful and incredibly silly, the game manages to take what was a solid defence game and give it a new lease of life. It’s still as tricky as ever though.

Plants vs. Zombies / YouTube

Guacamelee! Super Turbo Champion Edition
Where else can you get it:
Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Wii U, PC, Mac, Linux

Anyone who has a fondness for the Metroid or Castlevania games will love this and even if you don’t, the Mexican wrestling theme should be enough to reel you in. Bringing in Mexican folklore and culture keeps things fresh and it’s both challenging yet fair.

IGN / YouTube

Dead Rising 3
Where else can you get it:
PC

One of the first titles to appear on the Xbox One, Dead Rising 3 excels when it has you surrounded by hundreds of zombies and forces you to wade your way through.

It’s not the prettiest game out there, but the core gameplay, the art of combining weapons and the open-world city keeps things moving along.

GamesHQMedia / YouTube

Sunset Overdrive
Where else can you get it:
N/A

Over the top, crazy and, most importantly, fun, Sunset Overdrive brings together a bright and vibrant world that you can zip through. Also, disposing mutants using what can only be called as unconventional and colourful weaponry never gets old.

gamespot / YouTube

Alien: Isolation
Where else can you get it:
Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, PC

If there’s one word to describe Isolation, it’s ‘tense.’ It starts off slow, building up the world you’re in before it thrusts you into a stealth horror game where you struggle to stay alive. There may be only one xenomorph in the game, but its unpredictable nature and the lack of protection you have ramps up the tension.

gamespot / YouTube

Super Time Force
Where else can you get it:
Xbox 360, PC (arriving on PS4, PS Vita in Spring 2015)

A 2D shooter with a few twists, Super Time Force will remind you of classic games like Gunstar Heroes and Contra as you blast through each level, but it has a few twists of its own.

One of them is when you die, you can travel back in time and spawn a new character to play alongside with. Instead of being controlled by AI, they do exactly what you did when you last played them, making tricky sections and bosses that little bit easier to deal with.

IGN / YouTube

Rayman Legends
Where else can you get it:
Xbox 360, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Wii U, PC

If you’re into precision platforming, and games that require quick reflexes, then you can’t go wrong with Rayman Legends. Beautifully crafted and beautiful to look at, it’s packed with challenges and collectables which will keep you busy for a while.

Last Christmas instead of boring turkey I cooked belly of pork for about 20 people.
It was such a hit they are all doing it next year.
The secret is to marinate it overnight with your favourite spices and then cook slowly for about 4 hours. Raise the temperature of the oven for the last 15 mins to ensure your crackling is crackly enough!!!!
It is so much more tasty than turkey which makes it much more fattening of course!!!!

Pork steak stuffed with black pudding will end up pretty dry. Throw some sliced apple in there with it. Alternatively you could stuff it with mozzarella, sage and chutney. Or with apricots and prunes, then roll it in olive oil and paprika.

Spare a thought for the Pig, very intelligent animal. Gets a bad press because it rolls around in its own filth. If I saw a pig and a man drowning in a river I’d rescue the pig first.

Actually, it doesn’t. It rolls in mud to cool down in warm weather but in a loose house, it keeps its bed very clean and has a separate area for eating and toilet

    Shoulder of Pork – 3 hours at around 260 – 290.

Cover the port in a mustard or honey ‘glaze’.F ill the baking try to about 1/2 with water for our gravy or to your taste. Put some mustard into the water along with two whole peeled white onions.

After 2 and half hours. Take the pork out of the baking try and put it on a flat try for another half an hour. This will crisp up the crackling. Serve with the Gravy you made.

My wife makes seriously delicious pork burgers. Delicious I tells ya. Get your butcher to mince some chops for you next time. The burgers are much juicier than beef burgers. Make sure to grate some apple into the mix before making the patties

Goulash, cubes of pork, onion fry add some water let it simmer then throe in some red cabbage, sliced Apple season with salt, pepper and paprika. Tomato purée gives a deeper colour serve with pasta which has bee seasoned with sal and nutmeg. Cheap and easy people I know who don’t normally like pork have loved this.
