Fisherman's body recovered from water off Castletownbere

A local fisherman had fallen into the sea from a vessel moored nearby.

A MAN’S BODY has been recovered from the sea off Dinish Pier, Castletownbere.

A Coast Guard spokesperson confirmed the body was seen in the water shortly after 2pm this afternoon.

The local Coast Guard unit was dispatched to the scene, as was the Rescue 115 Shannon helicopter. Gardaí were also advised of the incident.

The body was recovered just before 2.30pm.

According to Castletownbere Coast Guard, a local fisherman had fallen into the sea next to a vessel moored at Dinish Island.
