Snow ... and not just on the hills: Met Éireann's issued a weather warning for the entire country

A Met Éireann snow-ice warning is in effect until tomorrow afternoon.

Updated at 7.05pm

WATCH OUT ON those footpaths this evening and in the morning — you don’t want to be this guy:

ice fall guy

A Met Éireann snow-ice warning is in effect until midday tomorrow.

According to the weather service it will be “very cold tonight, with lowest temperatures falling back to minus 3 or minus 4 degrees”.

There’ll be frosty conditions across the country — and ice in parts too.

On top of all that, the north-west will experience some wintry showers, mainly on higher ground —  though there could be also be some flurries away from the hills.

Tomorrow, we can expect some good, bright sunshine “but scattered wintry showers will affect northern and western areas”.

During the afternoon, it will become more cloudy generally — with some showery rain developing in the west.

Elsewhere will stay dry, apart from the odd shower.

It’ll still be chilly, however.

Temperatures of between 3 to 7 degrees…

The good news is that although the weather will remain changeable and unsettled, Met Éireann says it will be less cold as the weekend goes on.

Half a billion animals have died so far. These bushfires will see the end to many species. It’s unprecedented. The devastation to all of the communities wiped out, reading stories of masses of people staying on beaches so that they can easily jump into the water is absolutely frightening. All we can hope for is rain and a drop in temperatures. As many experts have said, nature started this fire, nature will end it.

@Sirius: And the thing is its only getting started, sooner or later they will figure out burning coal is not a good idea and there is a good chance the country will be one very large desert in the future….they have been warned like us all, its up to them to make the change.

Whoever or whatever is to blame …..seeing and hearing about the animals breaks my heart.
I saw a picture today of a dead kangaroo. Burnt alive, trapped in a fenced area. I think it will haunt me forever :(

    This is a tragedy.

@moneymaid: Oh no :( I feel the same. Humans can leave their houses to escape to safety but the animals can’t. It’s awful.

Devastating. Poor animals.. people should wise up and starting making changes. We are destroying our world. Reduce or eliminate the intake of meat for a start.
