It’s funny , i had a conversation with my brother today , I was expelled from a CBS school when on my 15th birthday , because I always complained about the sexual harassment , but I never blamed gay people for it , more the system that had them closeted . This was the Ireland of my youth in the 70′s , what annoys me about the LGBT community is that they would be the first to defend other minorities who would do them real harm , not just express an opinion , like yourself .

In any case, there are still battles to be fought and just because things are better now than they used to be it doesn’t mean sexual minorities don’t still experience prejudice.

I think that Pride Parades are an excellent way of bringing gay culture into the open and reducing the social and cultural stigma. The history of Pride parades and the reasons are fascinating. It would be wrong to prohibit them.

I accept that the many who opposed the Same Sex Marriage Referendum got very exercised about the Pride Parades. Live and let live, I think.

I certainly would not begrudge the celebration of gay people. Look at the documentary on the history of gay people in Ireland. It was a truly miserable, oppressive and cruel time.

Unfortunately the judge didn’t do his job , but the Jury of peers did , that should be noted .
There are always lenient sentences handed out , but look at today , people don’t agree with them .
