Sydney siege: Terror alert not raised, flights operating as normal

Sydney airport said there are no delays on flights in and out, though some are taking a different route over the city.

A HOSTAGE SITUATION in Sydney is ongoing this morning, with a man warning that he has four bombs planted around the city.

At a busy time for travel all around the world, and with many hoping to leave or enter Sydney to get home for the holidays, people have been expressing their concern about the impact it may have on their travel plans and, more importantly, if they will be safe.

As yet, the government in Australia has not raised the terror alert further, as the incident has not been confirmed as a terrorism related event. In September this year, the government raiser the alert from medium to high, however, meaning an attack on home soil was considered likely.

Sydney Airport said today flights are not affected by the hostage situation. In a statement, it said it wanted to reassure the public that the airport remains open and fully operational. Though the terror alert has not been raised, the airport said safety and security are its highest priorities and it is working closely with authorities to monitor the situation and put contingency plans in place.

The airspace around the city has not been shut down but Quantas said some flights are taking a different route to avoid flying over the business centre, where the incident is taking place. However this had not been causing delays in and out of the airport.

Up to thirty people taken hostage by a crazed gunman and all people worry about is that their flight may be delayed. Get a grip.

Grinds my gears that people always complain about travel delays when peoples lives are at risk, mush like how people complain when there’s a terrible car crash.

A sign the hostages reportedly were forced to hold up against the windows which read “We sacrifice ourselves for you, O Mohamed”

Would a real Muslim get that wrong? Very strange.

That would be called CENSORSHIP when your social media accounts get cut off for questioning the main flow of the media and that day is approaching with all these new bills being drafted in under our noses.
