Guess how many people visited the Guinness Storehouse last year...

500,000? 1 million? 1.5 million?

MORE THAN 1.25 MILLION people visited the Guinness Storehouse in 2014 – a record-breaking number.

Some 1,269,371 guests passed through its doors over the last 12 months, breaking the previously held record of 1,156,985 in 2013.

This represents a 9.7% increase on the 2013 visitor numbers and means the Storehouse retains its position as Ireland’s most popular international visitor attraction.

Most of the visitors were American, British, Irish and French.

Overall, 93% of visitors were from overseas with the US (up 14% year on year), the UK (up 25%), Italy (up 14%) and Canada (up 27%) representing the biggest growth markets compared to 2013.

August was the busiest month with 148,683 visitors.

Paul Carty, Managing Director of the Guinness Storehouse commented said today was a “very proud day” for the company.

“The tourist industry is providing solid back up growth for the economy and we are delighted to be at the forefront of this,” Carty stated.

Alex Connolly, Head of Communications for Fáilte Ireland said the Storehouse’s performance is “very welcome”.

“As we look at the year ahead, there is an appetite across the globe for authentic Irish experiences and we hope that the Guinness Storehouse and Irish tourism in general continue to perform to these levels,” Connolly added.

Tourists spent an average of €479 each in Ireland this year

QUIZ: Can you name these Irish landmarks?

Not that great – expensive. And they sell everything with Guinness on it!

Old ads, dull videos, mediocre food, little direction.

By far the best is the 7th floor bar with the panoramic views of Dublin and beyond.

    Almost 360°….

Expensive? I went a few weeks back with some friends and €16.20. I enjoyed it. Great building with so much history. I like the liberties area. Reminds me of Shoreditch it London.

If you didn’t like the old ads etc then why did you visit? What exactly were you expecting? Funnily enough I got bored of the panoramic view fairly quickly – it was cool but Dublin isn’t that nice to look at from a height for some reason. Good day out though IMHO.

My friends love coming over to Dublin, Irelands biggest tourist attraction. Over 3 million Brits came to Ireland in 2014.

I really recommend getting the heritage card. I got it last year and got free into loads of things! It also pushes you to get out of bed at the weekend

Busy place, that’s over 3000 people a day, if they are open 9 hours per day its approximately 1 person enters every 10 seconds, obviously not everyone had a pint as there wouldn’t be enough time for it to settle properly :-)

Is this an advertisement for the Guinness Hopstore ?

A great experience for sure, overpriced however.

I remember in the 1980s when Guinness had a very basic Visitors Center, no admission charge .. And free Beers !
