SARAH PALIN CAME under fire for posting photographs of her son standing on the family dog in their kitchen.
In her New Year’s message on Facebook, the former US Republican vice presidential nominee posted photographs of her son Trig, who has Down Syndrome, stepping on the dog. The dog does not appear to be hurt.
A message above the photographs said:
Happy New Year! May 2015 see every stumbling block turned into a stepping stone on the path forward. Trig just reminded me. He, determined to help wash dishes with an oblivious mama not acknowledging his signs for “up!”, found me and a lazy dog blocking his way. He made his stepping stone.
Palin received some support in the thousands of comments beneath the pictures, but also faced much criticism.
When she shared the post on Twitter, she also came in for criticism:
Palin responded to the criticism by singling out PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), in a Facebook post today.
She added:
Our pets, including Trig’s best buddy Jill Hadassah, are loved, spoiled and cared for more than some people care for their fellow man whose politics may not mesh with nonsensical liberally failed ways or don’t fit your flighty standards. Jill is a precious part of our world. So is Trig.
