Photos: Coast Guard rescues a dog trapped at Howth cliff

The dog is reported to be in ‘good form’ after the rescue.

IT WAS A ruff afternoon for one small Dublin dog who had a narrow escape.

The Coast Guard was called after the dog became trapped on a cliff at Balscadden Beach in Howth in north Dublin.

The dog, who had been exploring the area, became trapped on a narrow shelf some 4 metres (13 feet) above the beach.

The Howth Coast Guard Cliff Rescue team were sent to the scene after members of the public tried and failed to rescue the dog.

The team used a ladder to get to the dog and bring him back to safety on the beach.

A spokesperson for the Howth Coast Guard said the dog was in “good form” and was returned to his owner.
