Jenny Kelly and Will Hanafin are joining Ray D'Arcy at RTÉ

D’Arcy announced he was leaving Today FM last month.

RAY D’ARCY’S TRANSITION back to RTÉ will be made smoother by the fact some familiar faces will be joining him.

RTÉ has confirmed that Jenny Kelly, D’arcy’s wife, and Will Hanafin will be on board to produce the new programme.

Last month D’Arcy shocked listeners by announcing he was leaving his Today FM show, which he presented for 13 years, with immediate effect.

D’Arcy is set to take over the 3-4.30pm RTÉ Radio 1 slot vacated by Derek Mooney on weekdays from 2 February.

Kelly left the show back in June, saying she wanted to spend more time with the couple’s young children, Kate and Tom.

She tweeted the view from her new desk at Montrose this afternoon:

A spokesperson for RTÉ said that D’Arcy and Kelly had started work at the broadcaster today, while Hanafin will join the team in the coming weeks.

Miriam was my English teacher for my final 3 years in Rosmini in the late 90′s. A proper influence with nothing but students development in mind. I often think of her so fondly when I look back on school days. What a loss to the profession this is. RIP to one of the best.
