UTV IRELAND HAS had people talking since its launch on New Year’s Day.
While it has not always been for the right reasons, the station today launched its news programme, Ireland Live.
The show airs at 6.30pm, an hour after TV3 and into the second half of RTÉ’s Six One.
Anchored by Alison Comyn, today’s inaugural broadcast has received a largely warm welcome from viewers.

Absolutely amazing news broadcast. I’ve never felt this way about the news before. It’s like UTV discovered a way of injecting pure information into my brain. And the weather! Oh my god the weather. I was left speechless throughout the whole thing, I’m still a little bit shaky

Ah here,are we seriously debating how good or bad the news was delivered?
Yes we are. There are only a limited number of news sources in our tiny land, and it’s quite important that some of them are watchable.

It will be more than likely be repeated at 10.00 PM tonight..
So what’s Chris Donoghue meant to be doing at 10pm? Teaboy during the breaks? Supervise the Twitter machine? Etc…
I believe the 10pm slot is more analysis oriented rather than a repeat of 6pm broadcast as rte do.
So far I’m impressed. However, it is the only good thing I’ve seen on UtvIrl so far. Nothing but sh!te otherwise

The question I like to ask is why is there a near blanket ban on motor sport on Rte Tv3 channels ? this lot seems to think it’s their right to do this all of us pay the TV licence for Rte I hope Utv Ireland will show what our home channels clearly don’t We are not all Gaa or soccer fanatics

I am really surprised to see a lot of Upc customer complaint about Utv Ireland . Unless you are from up around the Northern area I can see their point as for the rest of us where is the interest Itv have never had any interest in anything going down here not even the weather forecast . Not that Utv Ireland is not much better I won’t miss Itv good riddance

Watched UTV news once. Nothing but sectarian news items. Was left feeling depressed after it.

The thing I don’t get is they say on UTV Player that ”Ireland Live” will not be on the UTV Player or their other show “Rare Breed – A Farming Year” so the only two shows they actually make themselves will not be on their UTV Player.
Didn’t see it but can anyone tell me did they report real news or was it the same old crap with funky couches?
Its not that great the news they are not covering a lot of the main news and they are still playing english programmes for competitions that we cannot enter which is crap and no irish programmes played yet
Lets hope they cover GAA results as Regular UTV and BBC NI don’t give the games much attention

Utv ireland, hardly seems worth the effort, what have they produced so far, already repeating Pat Kenny, which was bad enough the first time, Chris O`Donoghue, it`s bad enough trying to avoid him on the radio every morning.
TV3 don`t have any news bulletins on weekends or bank holidays, which is probably just as well because their news is so crap anyway.

What’s the point of having three news broadcasts on three different stations within an hour of each other. At least before we had a straight choice between tabloidy and trashy (tv3) and somewhat professional (rte) news delivery.
I think UTV ireland will kill off tv3 eventually.

All very well if heard the sound what about deaf and hard of hearing they have no subtitles on any programmes on this station
i didn’t say all the news from cork was a bad thing , seems their focusing more on local news
Like all media give politions a free run won’t put proper questions to them
