Ireland's oldest man has died, aged 107

Michael Lambert passed away on Sunday night.

IRELAND’S OLDEST MAN passed away on Sunday night aged 107.

Michael Lambert celebrated his last birthday in October and held the title of Ireland’s oldest man since November.

The father of ten from Ballintubber, Roscommon died on Sunday night in Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe.

Tributes were paid to the farmer at the monthly meeting of Roscommon County Council last night.

Fianna Fáil Councillor, Orla Leyden, told TheJournal.ie that he was a proud Roscommon man who put his long years down to a simple life and hard work.

It was a case of everything in moderation, a life without panic or stress.

“We were talking about the 1916 commemorations last night and speaking about how as Michael was born in 1907 – he so would have lived through that time and what changes he would have seen.

He was very knowledgeable and very very healthy. He was really an inspiration to all of us.

Leyden also pointed out that Roscommon has the most number of old people.

Luke Dolan was Ireland’s oldest man until he passed away last November aged 108.

Michael and Luke met for the first time after 106 years – although the pair lived just 20 miles away from each other.

The oldest living person should be given everything they need for free. Just a nice way of saying ‘well done’

Wow, he was 37 when Auschwitz was liberated. That’s mind boggling, I might look into this panic and stress free living.
I’ll do it later, no point in rushing.
