Gardaí search for clues, three years after man accused of drug dealing was shot dead

Gardaí are making an appeal on the anniversary of the incident.

THREE YEARS AGO, Andrew Allen was shot at home in Buncrana in Co Donegal.

The dissident group Republican Action Against Drugs claimed responsibility for the shooting.

His family have denied Allen was involved in drug dealing.

Gardaí in Buncrana, Co Donegal have renewed their appeal for information in relation to the fatal shooting of Allen on 9 February 2012.

A number of arrests have been made by investigating Gardaí into this murder.

Allen is originally from the Waterside area of Derry.

“We are working closely with our colleagues in the Police Service of Northern Ireland,” said gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room in Buncrana at 074-922 0504, the Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

But sf can’t achieve basically anything they promise . They expect to break all the special tax rules that keep consultants and fdi in the country , build houses for 30k a piece , reduce taxes while increasing spending, pure magic beans economics .

@Seán O’Sullivan: Opposition parties don’t always lead in the polls and SF have only become the most popular party in more recent years, coinciding strangely enough with Leo’s leadership of FG. You’re falling into the FFG trap of taking pot shots at SF because they’ve achieved what every political party wants to achieve and become the most popular party in the country. Maybe if FFG spent as much time looking inwards and working on their own dismal performance in government, they wouldn’t be in this situation. SF have worked hard to get where they are but but they couldn’t have done it without the FFG party handing it to them on a platter.

@Seán O’Sullivan: We can’t keep going with either FF or FG in power though. It clearly is not working. Our political system needs to be completely overhauled in my opinion as we have too many “lifers” in politics who offered absolutely nothing to the people of Ireland.

The first phase of seeing what things might look like is to put FF and FG into opposition for a term or two.

Like I said, we can’t keep going with either/or parties as they clearly don’t put the people or the country first.

Its way past time for change. F.F/FG will never again be viewed as separate entities due to Martin selling his soul and what ounce of self respect he had left to become Taoiseach. Varadkar is a narcissist who has no idea, or for that matter interest, on how the ordinary man/ woman in the street is struggling to survive. I agree that maybe we shouldn’t, but we do, and that’s the democratic result. We need more people to become involved in politics so we have a bigger range of people to vote for. @GrumpyAulFella: Do you honestly believe that the young people of this country will give a two penny dump about a war that ended decades ago? Do you think they will give that war a higher priority than owning their own home? Or having a good quality health service?
If you believe that, then you really are beyond help. The war is over sunshine. Let it go.

@GrumpyAulFella: Terrorists, gunmen… blah blah blah. You do realise no one under fifty gives a flying phuck about the past. We’re more concerned about our wages being depleted right now through USC, property tax, the licence fee and every other tariff going to pay for FFG’s gross mishandling of the economy. People can barely get by month to month and owning your own home is a pipedream. Cost of living’s gone so high it’d be cheaper now to die.

@GrumpyAulFella: as has been said already, younger people in particular couldn’t care less what happened decades ago. There was a peace process in case you have forgotten. But seeing as you seem to love history… we did have serving ministers gun running for the IRA 50 years after the foundation of the state, one of whom later became Taoseach. And they weren’t members of SF now where they, but a party currently in government.

As for sectors, housing is a sector, healthcare is a sector, and so on. All in tatters thru years of mismanagement and devotion to privatisation. Again, none of what I’m saying is opinion, it’s factually the situation we are in right now. Pointing to a party not responsible for it doesn’t cut it anymore. If the public want to express their opinion, they get to do that at elections every 5 years. If a majority of TDs think there should be a election, they can force one.

For example, in Year 1 have a Ge in Dublin City and surrounds, Year 2 a GE in Munster, Year 3 a GE in Connaught, Year 4 a GE in Leinster and Year 5 a GE in Cork City. Voters won’t be having to wait 5 years to hold politicians to account and if Government parties don’t fulfil their mandates, it’s possibly bye-bye to that Government. That’s democracy.

This is not one of the better known and established polls. I simply don’t see it replicated around me. There’s a disjoint between what the pollsters give Sinn Fein and what Sinn Fein themselves have polled on the ground in the past five by-elections over two and a half years, if I remember correctly. And there’s not a depth of quality candidates on the ground to take those extra seats that it’s claimed Sinn Fein would win – I think they’re a team that could run out of first team players.

The problem in this country is all the people who vote FFG/GP see themselves as something of an upper crust landed gentry, when in fact all of us who pay PAYE or rely on the government to survive are what would normally be a left leaning cohort supporting a socialist styled political party. I think it may be that a lot of people are finally realising this and the fact that the Sinn Fein leadership is right on point in all their criticism from the opposition benches. The labour party had a chance to be strong when they absorbed the Democratic Left but the time wasn’t right and we had to suffer a lot more before we realised we were being taken for a ride. Roll on the next election.

The one major policy that sewed the seeds of change was when Labour abolished third level fees and now there is a brand new group of people who see politics for what it is and was and are prepared to risk change than face the status quo. I am not saying it will be utopia but what is worse is more of the same.

If SF get into government, then it is completely and totally up to them to deliver. If they don’t deliver, then it’s back to the opposition benches.
