RUSSELL BRAND HAS released another video supporting Ireland’s anti-water charges movement.
In typically animated fashion, he delivers a 6 minute speech excoriating the new charging regime, the political establishment and the Irish media
“In the world-wide war that is called austerity, in Ireland now water protesters are being dragged from their beds and arrested like political prisoners and the Irish news still finds time and ways to make a water pun,” he says, before introducing a clip of RTÉ coverage.
People are protesting because some people have this crazy notion that water’s meant to be free anyway.
The comedian (for some reason) filmed the whole clip from his bed. Clearly, he feels pretty strongly about the subject — the towel loosely draped around his shoulder falls off at one point.
Thankfully the video ends before he has the chance to shake off the duvet, too.

Immensely talented, no doubt about that, but he’s from England not Ireland.
@O Swetenham: born in England to irish parents, spent the first 6 and a half years of his life in Tipperary, considers himself Irish and has spent more of his life living in Ireland than England. That makes him irish in my opinion.

The picture reminds me of one of those creepy Victorian post mortem photos where family members would pose for one last family photo with the dressed up corpse.

@Brian Brogan: There was a some professional camera men there last night along with notices saying it was being recorded so hopefully it will become available.
Incredible night but I was annoyed to see some empty seats in front of us from no shows when there was a few hundred people queuing up outside hoping to get a ticket.
