THREE CARS WERE stolen from a house in Newtown, Meath in the early hours of this morning.
One of the cars, a red Peugeot 3008, 11 LH registration, was found on fire in the forecourt of Ferdia Service Station on the Kells Road, Ardee.
Gardaí were called to the scene at around 5:40am. Fire Services extinguished the blaze and no one was injured as the station was closed at the time.
A white VW Caddy van, 07 D registration, was later found at the graveyard in Drumconrath Village, Meath.
The third car taken - a white Hyundai i30 Van – has not yet been found. It has a 141 D registration.
Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses that may have seen these three vehicles early this morning travelling between Newtown and Ardee, its believed that they may have travelled in convoy.
In addition anyone that may have seen activity in the forecourt of the service station this morning at approximately 5.40am or at the graveyard in Drumconrath this morning are asked to contact Ardee Garda Station on 041– 6871130, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Someone robbed my car this day last week, luckily it was found 50 miles away having run out of petrol. Next step is to find a replacement ignition so I can get it back on the road. Anyone got one going spare? Boxy model micra (1991). :(

Hi Sandra. A mechanic can bypass the ignition on the old micras. It just means connecting two wires with a switch for on and off. You need the key in ignition to bypass steering lock and put power through to starter motor from battery though.
Had to do it with a 96 Model a few years back. Took about ten minutes.

Hi Charlie. Ignition needs replacing as I need to get it past the insurance roadworthiness test, needless to say they would rather scrap it than fix it due to its age.

Ah. Sorry to hear that Sandra. When the NCT was every two years I used to buy an old Micra for about eight hundred euro and if it was going to take more to fix after two years, just buy another one and use the other for spares.
Got through about five that way.

The picture clearly shows the carjacker using a Jedi mind trick to take control of the car. The Gardai should focus their investigations accordingly.
They wouldn’t get far in my yoke ..I do put €10 in and expect to get two weeks out of it lol
It is very annoying when you are out going about your daily work or chores and you are stop,ed at a road check and asked to blow into an intoxaliser and then they give you this bullshite about that they are only doing their job if they had any cop on they should be able to see if you have had a drink. Then you are sitting at home watching the news and here they are asking you if you have any information on this that or the other to come forward with your information in confidence and the same thing could happen to you the next day thats the thanks that you get
