You’d want to be a brave man with balls of steel to shoot an unarmed 11 year old kid…
Another new low to put in his criminal CV …

Don’t think he aimed and shot the child , sounds more like the gun went off , maybe during a struggle , having said that though , it’s still shocking that a child got shot like that , poor kid .

The Indo reports that 3 caravans parked on the property were damaged in an earlier incident. I guess that makes most of the comments below redundant.

Maybe if the guards were out investigating crimes instead of installing water meters this sort of criminal could be already locked up and this sort of crime could have been prevented!
But who am I to judge? Im just an ordinary everyday tax paying irish citizen! What does my opinion matter?

The thugs that fought the guards that day are the ones involved in the shootings and beatings. Class thing.

I’ve my serious doubts that this was family who ……. just finished watching TV. Where father said Good night children. Good night papa. Say your prayers we will papa. Read us story please. Oh you little Rascals.

Its time for a nation wide zero tolerance crack down on “gangland,” every community in the country is under siege from gangsters. Billions of euro are siphoned out of the economy overseas were gangsters operate with impunity, flooding Ireland with guns and drugs.

Traveller gangs are as much involved in gangland as settled people especially in Dublin, anyway does it matter who was involved, criminality by whoever has gotten out of hand, does the fact that the young lad was a traveller mean that the gunman shouldn’t be hunted down as rigorously as he would if it was a settled boy who was shot.

It shouldn’t matter who the crooks are, whether it Charlie Haughey’ estate or an estate in Rathkeale, the CAB should sieze the lot if they are bought from the proceeds of crime.

    Phil.

It’s important to recognise that in order to remove/reduce crime in any area than you must reduce the need for crime. Rates of crime in every country in the world are directly related to inequality and poverty. You don’t get to create a situation where people are disadvantaged and then complain when they act out. If you want to stop this kind of thing from happening you must direct your focus on preventing the necessity of it.

Worrying times when the safest place on earth your own home is no longer it anymore. My ultimate nightmare and absolute privacy violation – someone breaking into my house. I’d think it won’t be long before people will want to own the gun – if state cannot protect anybody and sentences served are more serious for robbing cereal from the shop or not paying tv licence.

I just dont get it, every time I read or hear that they caught the “bad guys” they are ALWAYS released without charges, that doesnt help, because criminals, s6umbags, animals, knackers, junkies (same thing) are not afraid because they know that nothing will happen to them thats why they do whatever they want. I just hope that something happen to the judges themselves or their families, to see if they really start doing their job properly. Another st&pid excuse, prisons are full, well who said that to be in prison is a holiday? there is no more space in prisons? here are some tents and sleeping bags.

Fg the party of law and order me arse.

Unfortunately when you criticise travellers your a racist by all accounts.

But over the years my brother in law a guard say 9 out of 10 burglaries are travellers. Then a lad I went to school with who is one too said almost very same thing.

At this stage we should be doing something about that. Cut of welfare to those travellers doing crime or something like that
